Why did my recording FAIL in the 8th inning of a 13 inning playoff game???????

I couldn't believe it! Red Sox vs Rays. 8th inning. Recording stopped.  We weren't even home at the time of the live game, so we couldn't have bumped anything.

Did this happen to anyone else???

Did the game run overtime? There is no 'automatic' extension for Live programming if it runs over. The network would have to contact the guide data company, which in turn makes it available companies like Comcast to pick up, and then integrate it into their database. And even then, I'm not sure if X1 would directly support extending the time without user interaction.

You can manually tell it to add extra time to recordings to be safe.

@andyross there are others on this forum that have had similar thing happen just to normal game lengths. Including myself! Our setting says to record to the end of the event but we had 3 Bruins games cut off before the normal end times over the past week. Some talk about used to be auto extend and that it stopped recently? Yes. We can manually extend each recording by increments but that didn’t used to be necessary for sporting events. And it still doesn’t explain why if the setting is to the end of the show it cuts it off before it reaches the end.

@andyross from the X1 site…

Recording Start Times: The DVR is synced with the TV listings. If a network starts a program a minute earlier than the on-screen program guide's scheduled time, the DVR will miss that first minute, unless you program the DVR to start a minute early. Start times may be adjusted on the Record Options screen. Learn more about changing the start or stop time of a recording on your X1 DVR.

Auto Extend: In case an auto-extendable program you’ve scheduled to record runs over the scheduled time, Auto Extend will automatically extend your recording by 90 minutes and end once the program is over. Game recordings run 15 minutes after the end of the game to account for post-game activities.

@nickyvt I have had the same issue with Bruins games throughout October. Not even close to the end. Is there a solution? Set it to extend 1.5 hrs after? I thought it would record to the end without having to extend it.
