What happened to the closed captions on TCM?

A few weeks ago I noticed that Turner Classic Movies (769) was no longer showing captions. I searched in the forum, but couldn't find anything. Also, there are two other channels that aren't showing captions any more but it's been awhile: Food Channel (652) and Cooking Channel (225). Please advise.

Thank you for reaching out to us here for help with the Closed captions on TCM, computermusic. You've reached the right place for help. I'd like to ask a few questions to gain a better understanding and work together towards a fix. To begin, is this issue isolated to one TV? Have you tried toggling the closed caption on and off to see if it helps?

Thank you for your reply. It's just one TV because the second TV is attached to a DVD recorder that's not working. Toggling the 'Subtitles' option in 'Setup' didn't change anything. I found something interesting on searching for this problem - are the channels I've mentioned eligible for closed captioning?

You're welcome! Our team is always happy to help. As it turns out, every time the playback functionality options appear on-screen, a list of the accessibility settings are visible underneath the transport bar. If CC is listed then the channel or program does indeed have closed captioning available. If you pull up your Xfinity Channel guide and highlight a program over one of the impacted channels does the program have CC listed? In this article, you can learn how to turn CC on or off on X1 and all the details included.
