weta uk gone from comcast 8/4/2020

Question

On 8/4/2020 the  Comcast channel guide removed the weta uk channel 265. The weta uk channel 265 has vanished. I know those with an antenna had to rescan to continue getting tv. I am talking about Comcast. I had no idea Comcast proposed to remove channel 265. Also, I had no idea TCM was being removed until one day it was just gone.

Weta UK is the only channel I watch. I don't need Comcast for tv otherwise.  I keep seeing  the message 'You'll need to subscribe to HD This channel is only available in HD ...' Nonsense, since many of those programs were not filmed in HD and I don't have an HD tv.  Looks like I can finally ditch Comcast if this channel is not available.

Any options for those who want to be able to see Weta uk but are unwilling to pay for an upgrade in order to do so? Can I drop my xfinity account and just buy a set of 'rabbit ears'?

Sounds like the SD version was dropped, leaving just the HD version. Check past billing statements for channel changes

My experience is slightly different.  WETA UK has vanished from TVs connected to digital adapters but it is still available through the box.  Channel 265 still shows in my listing of channels but now I can only get it on the TV connected to the box

Update. Finally got my WETA program guide for August. We can’t blame COMCAST, this is down to WETA:
“On Aug 4 WETA UK will transition to a high definition format, offering viewers a clearer picture and a higher-quality viewing experience! The transition is occurring because WETA UK programming is increasingly produced in, or reformatted to, an HD standard. While this transition will be seamless for the vast majority of viewers, some WETA UK viewers will need to take action to continue to enjoy the programming they love”. It goes on to talk about various cable equipment/TV combinations and what equipment/ service changes will be needed if you do not have either HD cable boxes or watch OTA (over the air) which appears to require an HD antenna. Same here - it's very annoying as I love weta2 and now the tvs not connected to the box won't show it.

Agreed. This is the only channel I watch and now all I have is sound and no picture.
265/1146 still shown in Comcast TV listing but instead of pictures you get screen of paint pallet!!
HD or SD still same thing.
