Weird TV program behavior on different household TVs

The past two mornings at about 8:00 am when trying to watch news on channel 1115 on the den TV (connected to X1 DVR cable box), after 3-4 minutes the program would freeze, unfreeze, freeze, unfreeze, every few seconds like it was stuck in a loop. No other channels I checked were exhibiting this behavior. I checked channel 1115 on our other two TVs which are connected via WIFI set top boxes and they were not exhibiting this freezing/looping behavior. I unplugged the X1 DVR cable box from power to reset it but after it went through the setup routine and reconnected the odd behavior repeated.

I checked all this again two hours later and the freezing/looping behavior had ceased but another strange anomaly was now present. The program news segment I was viewing on channel 1115 was totally different on the TV connected to the X1 DVR cable box than it was on the two TVs connected via WIFI. It was not just a few seconds out of sync like you normally experience, it was a totally different program segment.

I am at a loss as to how to explain this.

Edit: By the way, channel 1115 is Newsmax TV. After doing a little googling, I note that a lot of xfinity customers have had freezing problems with this channel. It seems be a problem with the carrier service, i.e., xfinity, not Newsmax.

XfinityMarcus,

Thanks for giving attention to this matter. The issue seems to have corrected itself, though what caused it is still a mystery. Any ideas?

trents20 It's hard to say for sure what would have caused the interruption. Typically, there is a signal issue when a program freezes like that, but it could also indicate an issue with the frequency of the channel when using a cable box. If it's a frequency issue, it would be isolated to Xfinity and to specifics areas. With the additional cable boxes being wireless, they would utilize the stream feed of the channel, so that makes sense that one was impacted while the other were not. Are you having issues with any other channels at this time or with on demand programming?

Well, the freeze and looping behavior showed up again this morning on that same channel on the TV connected to the cable box. It unfroze when I switched to another channel and then back to 1115.

I am sorry to hear that. Is this also happening at the same time of day and on the same program?

newsmax is continuing to freeze.  I've reloaded roku.  I deleted and reloaded the xfinity streaming app.  Didn't fix it.  It's not happening with fox news streaming on the xfinity streaming app.  Newsmax and Fox are the two channels I watch on my roku.
