Searching for "Free This Week" Content

Hi!

We can watch Free This Week on our X1 box but can't find it on the Xfinity Stream app, via Roku.

We're using Xfinity internet, at home.

We're signed in.

Cables/connectors are tight.

The app is occasionally awkward to use but it functions.

Should we be able to watch Free This Week content on Xfinity Stream? If so, where is it?

We can't find it in the "Browse" section. We've used the "Search" section - no luck there. There are "Free Samples" from premium streaming channels like Starz & HBO/Max. I think we've clicked on everything. No mention of Free This Week, and the Free This Week shows we can watch free right now using X1 require payment/subscription on Xfinity Stream.

I understand that there are limitations to the wonderful Free This Week feature. Is this apparent unavailability on Xfinity Stream one of them? I hope someone can let me know so I can stop searching, if it's not available.

:)

Note: Each time I try to select a tag the page goes away & I have to start a new post. This is the 3rd time. I'm not doing it again (storms!) so I hope someone see this w/o tags.

user_e31eb9_Robin_ Are you receiving an error message of any kind when searching?

Hi, @XfinityShawn Thank you for replying!

Error message? No. I just can't find any mention of "Free This Week" (or this week's free content from Walter Presents) anywhere on Xfinity Stream. I think I've clicked on everything. There are free first episodes from premium channels, etc., but not the "Free This Week" shows.

We've had Xfinity Stream for a couple of months & I've been looking for "Free This Week" ever since we got it.

There's no problem finding & watching "Free This Week" content via our X1 box. But Xfinity Stream (using 2 Roku devices at home with Xfinity internet) has no "Free This Week" - that I can find.

When I search Xfinity Stream (using its Search function) for individual Walter Presents shows results are mixed. Some shows aren't present at all. But some - ones that are available thru PBS for a fee - are. Even Walter Presents doesn't show up in the search. Is that because it isn't a "normal" channel?

If the "Free This Week" feature isn't available for Xfinity Stream users, OK. That's disappointing but understandable. Maybe it's not designed to provide that kind of streaming to anything but an X1 box?

If it is available then I could use some help finding it.

:)

user_e31eb9_Robin_ Hi there! We can offer some helpful information regarding the content not being available on Roku.

Free this Week content may not be available across every platform--it is available on X1 TV Boxes, most Xumo Stream Boxes, Flex streaming TV Boxes, and Xfinity Stream (online portal and mobile app). Roku has not been added (yet).

user_e31eb9_Robin_ The online portal mentioned is the Xfinity Stream site (xfinity.com/stream).

Oh!

Thank you!

OK - looking at that now (on iPad, Xfinity internet).

But Free This Week  is still limited to  HBO, Starz, & MGM first episodes. No mention of this week's Walter Presents content (Free This Week).

Everything that I see in a quick look is the same as the Xfinity Stream app we have on the Roku devices.

Is there a place or heading that I'm missing?

You don't seem to understand that the listed programs are not shown there or are not free.

Searching on https://www.xfinity.com/stream :

Walter Presents: no result by that name

  • Astrid : returns 3 movies, none of them is "Free"
  • Seaside Hotel: returns no listing by that name
  • The Paris Murders: returns only upcoming PBS listings
  • Sisi: Austrian Empress: returns 3 movies, none of them is "Free"
  • Murder in Sweden: returns no listing by that name

Hi! Those search results are similar to what I've been getting.

This afternoon I found these two articles:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/subscribe-unsubscribe-from-isvod

and

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/isvod-faqs

Sounds like if we want to watch Walter Presents (or many of the other Free This Week offerings) we'll have to do it using our X1 box.

That's inconvenient but OK. At least I can stop searching now.

Unfortunately, knowing that we wouldn't be able to watch the "iSVOD" content via the Roku devices means that we won't be considering a subscription to those channels. But I hope that there'll be more watching options soon.

:)
