Scripps

I am very unhappy that Scripps channels have been removed from my TV lineup. I have been a Comcast/Xfinity customer for over 36 years and pay to have Triple Play. My Xfinity bill is my most expensive utility bill. It beats my electric bill by more than $100 a month.

Hello @user_cz7u4r Thanks for reaching out about the loss of channels owned by E. W. Scripps. This programming is currently unavailable as Comcast’s agreement with the network has expired. Please know Comcast pays programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and a number of reasonable offers have been made that they haven’t accepted. Comcast is working toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for customers. I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience. For more information, visit https://www.xfinity.com/programmingchanges.

Agree, completely unacceptable for the amount I pay every month and have for YEARS to not have NBC. Happy to get an antenna and completely cancel the service.

I filed a complaint with Scripps about the contract expiring. Below is their statement. Of course both are pointing the fingers at each other as being at fault. The very interesting part is they are saying they offered an extension to Xfinity while talks continued but Xfinity refused.

Statement from Scripps

On March 31, Comcast chose to pull Scripps local stations from its Xfinity service, despite our best efforts to discuss an extension that would have kept our signals available while we continued talks. Since then, Comcast has refused to respond to our most recent proposal to restore service to its customers.

We remain ready and willing to negotiate a fair agreement that returns critical local programming to Comcast subscribers. Scripps takes our public service responsibility to serve our communities seriously. Our stations provide on-the-ground reporting, real-time severe weather updates and live sports coverage that connects them to their communities – all content that serves the public interest and that Scripps continues to invest in every single day.

Scripps has been negotiating in good faith to reach an agreement that reflects this value and is fair for both parties and viewers. We hope Comcast recognizes the critical value we play for our communities and restores our stations’ signals so we can continue to serve their customers. Until then, Xfinity customers can still find our local news and sports programming for free over-the-air, on our station websites, streaming apps and on other locally available cable and satellite providers.

Our mission is to connect our communities with accessible local news, weather, live sports and entertainment programming. Comcast’s tactics won’t change our commitment to that.
