Scheduled recordings

I would like to know what entity is responsible for the information on a show in the guide.  I have shows that are listed as NEW and they record fine. I sometimes have a show record NEW and repeats. Works fine. The issue I have is if a show isn’t labeled new or repeat, it records. That means that every show in the guide for that show will record and fill up my DVR. Now I notice an option to Upgrade my DVR Plan after this problem started. I wouldn’t have to upgrade if the shows were labeled properly. I have 150 hours which should be more than enough aside from these shows recording and taking up space. I really don’t want to have to remove shows from my recording list and have to remember to reset them when a new season starts.

So the question is, why aren’t shows being labeled properly?

Most likely, it's the fault of either (a) the channel the show is on, for not providing specific episode information, or (b) whoever compiles the guide for Comcast, for not labeling the episodes properly. Comcast - and most, if not all, other DVRs that I know of, for that matter - will assume that a episode of a show without any sort of episode identifier is new.

Well, how about we go the other way. If it isn’t listed as new or repeat, don’t record it. I’m so tired of my DVR filling up.
