recording of sports games not going to end of game?

Hi.  For years, I have recorded sports games.  I always used "end on time" as the ending time since it always extended the recording to the end of the game if it went beyond the scheduled end time.  Over the last week though, I have found my recordings ending short.  I recorded 2 Blackhawks hockey games

over the past week.  The 1st game ended the recording before te 3rd period ended.  The 2nd game went into overtime and then went into a shootout (so it ran longer than normal).  This recording ended right at the end of regulation time.  DId something change in the way sports games are recorded?  DOes it no longer extend the recording to the actual end of the game anymore?
