Paramount Plus Error "Something Went Wrong" just recently

Since the beginning of Feb 2026, we have been getting the following error when watching reruns of NCIS: New Orleans on Paramount Plus:

The error appears after a long streaming delay, apparently up to 10 minutes into the episode, based on repeated experiments.

(Ignoring the annoying delay that occurs regularly at about 23 seconds into the episode.  Actually, that is the time when P+ recovers from the delay.)

The error above appears for "all" episodes, selected randomly.

I say "since the beginning of Feb 2026" because we had no problem watching some of the same episodes just before Feb.

We do not see the error when watching episodes of other series, for example NCIS: Sydney.

Because the problem seems to be series-specific, I am sure it has nothing to do with our cable box and the connection between it and Xfinity.

Instead, I suspect the problem has to do with the backend network and/or servers at Xfinity or, more likely, Paramount Plus.

Nevertheless, I have power-cycled the cable box.  And Xfinity tech support has done some preliminary troubleshooting, to no avail.

We completely understand your concern, and we appreciate you for your patience and for sharing your experience. Our engineering teams are still actively working toward a permanent resolution for the Paramount+ playback issue on X1 devices. While we don't have an estimated timeframe for a full fix, a recommended temporary solution has been reported to be successful with a few troubleshooting steps, such as force-closing and relaunching the app, clearing local data and storage on the TV Box, or restarting the device. We're glad to hear that Paramount+ is working on your desktop in the meantime. We appreciate your patience as our teams continue to investigate and work on a long-term solution.

Hey Xfinity, so this issue has been going on for months with too many users including myself. At what point do you think it’s a YOU problem NOT a users problem? Everything Iread from YOU and suggestions to fix is the ultimate insanity wheel, doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result!  Reading this string has finally convinved tolookfor another provider after over 20 years! Frankly sickening!

Good evening, @user_xnlacn! I am sorry that you are experiencing concerns with the Paramount+ app. We do ask for troubleshooting steps to see if we can fix it. If not, the troubleshooting steps are recorded and put into a ticket for our advanced repair team. The tickets are looked at for any engineering concerns, or known issues affecting everyone. If it is a known issue, no further troubleshooting is needed as we are working on the problem for everyone already.

We appreciate the help you have provided on that front and don't want you to feel like you are going in circles. There is a known issue with the Paramount+ app intermittently buffering and or freezing. Exiting and relaunching the app, clearing the local data storage, or rebooting the device can help when that is happening to get it working again. We are still working on an overall fix so you don't need to take additional steps and can just watch the app without worry.

I too am having all of the same problems as these posts. I have two Xfinity accounts. On the first, I have wireless boxes with no issues stream P+. On the second account, I have an X1 box and it displays ALL of the issues stated above. I like the idea of streaming through my SMART TV (Samsung). I also just swapped out my entire system, including the Gateway, to no avail. So it definitely is a problem with the wired boxes.  At $250-300 per account, I shouldn't have to worry about this $h*t.
