NHL Center Ice free preview???

I am working with a tech to try to get rid of the XRE-03121 errors that show up on all 14 channels that are NHL Center ICE/ MLB Extra Innings-this has happened 2 years in a row after MLB extra innings was over.  I told him I was unable to watch the free preview in early Oct.  and he is expressing doubt there was a free preview.  Could someone please confirm?
