netflix

We've been watching a show on Netflix.  We have Netflix directly with them, not Xfinity.   The app is on our on-demand. The show was originally on AMC+, but since went on Netflix.  About a month ago, we tried watching another episode of the show on Netflix, but could only pull up the episode by paying $2.99 to AMC.    We went ahead and did that, and later requested a $2.99 credit from Xfinity, which they granted.  This show has three seasons.  It was ok after that one time.  But, now last night, same thing happened.  Netflix wouldn't come up.  We couldn't get anything on Netflix.  All other apps seemed ok.  Netflix seems to be ok today, so far.

So, my question is:  does anyone have a suggestion about whether this problem is with Netflix or Xfinity?

Thanks.

@rufus97 Thanks for adding a post. If all other apps are working, then the issue will be with the Netflix service. If networks charge for their content, it is up to them and appropriate in order to see content they have placed behind a pay wall. That is controlled by the networks, not Xfinity.

We've been subscribers of Netflix for many years (directly, not through Xfinity).  As a subscriber, we are not separately charged for any show we watch on that app.  The $2.99 charge was not from Netflix, it was from AMC, where the show originally aired before going on Netflix.  The problem was that we couldn't get that episode (and a previous one) on Netflix, only by paying AMC.  When we tried to get the show from "my list",  Netflix showed, but it was just a grey color.  When we tried to pull up Netflix from the app, same thing,  just a grey color, and couldn't access it.  Was ok the next day, and we could watch that particular episode on Netflix with no $2.99 charge., even though we were charged $2.99 for same episode the previous day.  So, apparently from your response, this is a Netflix problem, not Xfinity.  Guess we'll have to contact them.  Thanks for replying.

@rufus97 Correct. Everything that is included with your subscription can be found in On Demand, and usually a bit more from the network providers. They choose what is available free, and what they charge for in the end. It's not common or a great experience, but there can be episodes or groups of that are not available for free in a season. It's all on the networks and what they license out, not Xfinity. Sometimes Netflix has something, the next week or month it'll be on Prime or Hulu. Asking Xfinity to credit something you watched on AMC because it's not available on Netflix is actually not a valid credit. A good way to test availability, is seeing the same results on the App within Xfinity, or when logging in directly to Netflix. If both platforms don't have the content, it's on the network. Now if you see different content available by logging into both platforms with the same username, let us know. We're happy to help.
