Missing local radio stations from channel lineup

Today I discovered that local radio stations were no longer on my channel lineup. I live in Berkeley California and as recently as last Saturday had local FM stations on my channel list. However today they were gone. I contacted xfinity tech support and they said several people had reported this issue. I’m wondering how widespread this is and/or if anyone else has a solution. Thanks in advance.

I'm as angry about this as anyone, but Comcast _DID_ announce the departure of the FM radio stations in our December 2018 customer invoices. I didn't discover the missing channels until January 16th, but I have to admit - reluctantly - that Comcast did provide me with advance notice, and I just never bothered to read my bill. And - in their defense - Comcast's bill isn't an impenetrable maze of extraneous babble.

Yes, I'm angry, but I admit that I take some blame for this as does everyone else, because there's not a single complaint about this issue written prior to January 15th. I'll be cutting this cable at the conclusion of my current contract term, but it's a valuable lesson learned.

I want to express my displeasure at Comcast for removing all of the FM stations from their line on Xfinity in northern California. I hope they will see the error or their ways and reinstate these stations.

Like you, I didn't read the small print - just perused the monthly charges. When I looked up the November statement it said it was eliminating the FM stations for LIMITED BASIC only, which is not what I subscribe/pay for.  So when they pulled from ALL packages, I was shocked and heartbroken.  And didn't discover until January 15.  Still not sure what we can do, but I would pay to get my stations back.  It's a lonely house here now ...

Personally, I would prefer to give up all of the video content you offer than the FM stations. Pretty disingenuous of Comcast to say that you know longer “have the ability” to offer audio- that is absurd.-O.H.

I agree! FM stations should be a priority. Most people watch a limited number of channels, and most in the lineup are JUNK!

The solutions I have tried for regaining FM service are not satisfactory. the sound if good on my computer, but it shuts down after about 30 minutes of the broadcast. The TV offers only podcasts, not the stream. I have to get more information about something like Alexa. How would it broadcast a radio station if the reception is bad, as it is at Rossmoor. Will explore Sirius radio, but may be too expensive for someone like me on a fixed income.

A pox on Comcast for doing this to us! And I never got a notification of this because I do not get a bill from Comcast. The so-called service is included in my monthly assessment, which went up considerably when Rossmoor contracted with Comcast for all of Rossmoor.

It is nonsense that Comcast is no longer capable of carrying the radio stations.  They simply want to free up the bandwidth to use for the kind of programming, like video on demand, that they can make more money on--thus adding to the useless junk already in their programming.

Dear Jesse, Comcast Customer communicator.  Again, I do not have the iHeart App nor do I have XI on my 1988 television, which I have used mostly to get the FM radio stations.  I can stream for an hour on my desktop, which is not in the living room, thus useless to me for audio presentations.  It then will cut off anyway.  We went through this in 2005 and Comcast "miraculously" brought the radio stations back.  You have a very large audience who subscribe to Comcast for their FM service.  Looks like a lot more will be cutting the cord.

I too relied on xfinity for local radio stations like kdfc and krty. Unlike regular tv broadcasts like espn or hbo, fm radio is a part of our families morning routine. Like reading the local newspaper (on my iPad), we listen every morning before work and school. Delivering this content through xfinity is much cleaner than searching multiple apps. I understand that channels are added and removed from time to time, but this was over 20 that is now gone. Thank you xfinity for negatively affecting our families daily routine and allowing us to no longer be attached to a service that is comparable to the others.

I called yesterday and got a similarly smug answer from the customer service—sorry you are calling us:  we told you about this change months ago.  If nothing else, this is an important reminder that Comcast and its subsidiaries can't be trusted. Sadly,  we must be proactive. Yes, they notified us in November. But it is 6 steps from the monthly billing alert to the bill, and then one must wade through the PDF to find a  list of changes in small print and light font on the last page. Not hidden in plain sight but hidden to be hidden.  Yes it is necessary to doubt the sincerity of the company’s apology, but do not for a second doubt that they understand your frustration. After all, they created that frustration, and will continue to frustrate for as long as we allow them to do so.

Agree! I'm leaving comcast as soon as I can. 35year customer gone!  No reason for taking our radio channels and RT channels away!? You could at least lower the price.

I am so angry about this. I didn't see any supposed notice and still they have given no good reason to remove my favorite channels. At the very least the price per month should come down. Close to 25 channels are now gone!

Now that you also toke away my 2 RT channels I am leasving as soon as I can! 35ish years custome says good ridance!

I think that it is a disservice to Xfinity to have dropped the radio stations from the lineup.  Will the stations be returning to the channel lineup??

You said this information appeared on the November bill. It did NOT appear on my emailed bill.

I really miss being able to listen to KQED radio on my TV. I don't have to have a radio in the same room.  For the amount I pay monthly, I expect to have KQED radio on my xfinity TV. Please return the service.

Your answer said it was too expensive. Your charges to me are expensive also.
