MeTV

For whatever reason(s) Xfinity decided to drop MeTV on September 1, 2022.  It used to be on channel 302 in the Portland Oregon area (I live in an area where it is impossible to receive OTA (over the air) television programming).  It was supposed to be available on channel 1197 on September 13, 2022.  Guess what?  Today is September 13, 2022 and there is no MeTV on channel 1197.  Why is this?

All I get on 1156 in Portland area is Bloomberg business interviews.

I’ve tried refreshing and restarting. Nothing on 1197. Sigh

I’m in Portland. At first, couldn’t find 1156 on my cable box guide. To fix, using my remote, I clicked on Xfinity/settings/help/system refresh. Took cable box 10 minutes to refresh. Once cable box automatically restarted, I clicked Guide, made sure All TV channels was chosen, entered 1156 and I’m now enjoying MeTV. Hope this helps you all

I'm in Salem, and I tried unplugging everything this morning and waiting a bit longer. As of now, 1156 does not show up (1165/OPB comes up when I put in the channel number. I'm hoping this is just getting slowly rolled out to the area as a whole.

Go to the Guide and look. Someone told me that and it worked. Try that instead of punching in the numbers on the remote. Good luck!

@user_b49599 Thank you, but still no luck. My guide goes from 1128 to 1165.

I am in South Carolina.  Met disappeared 1 September 2022. When will it be brought back?  This was wholesome programming.

Metv is there on channel 1156. The only way to get to it is through the guide. You can't just type it in, use voice remote, or look for the program. They must have forgot to set something up when they moved it.

@user_c3a0dc There it is!!!   noted, access 'Guide' menu, type in 1156 and bingo.!!   THANKS for the Steps!   Other methods no go as you've relayed.

Thanks user_c3a0dc  - hope all in this thread have the same luck.

Cheers and Beers

@user_308cee  I finally got MeTV but in order to do so I had to upgrade my cable box.  I had an older cable box that could not 'communicate' with the Xfinity main frames to refresh the channels.  I had to exchange it for the newer Xfinity X1 cable box.  So now I got MeTV along with some other channels, or bloatware, I have no interest in.  I also lost  'on demand'  free movies and shows.  Apparently it is called "free to me" or something.  So if anyone knows how to get rid of the 'bloatware' on the Xfinity X1 cable box, please share it.

From what I've been able to understand, X1 or legacy boxes should not matter for this, as 1156 is an HD channel. I would be curious to know if it were part of a package that I don't have, or something yet to be created.

I haven't heard any updates for a few days now. I saw on another forum where someone in Portland was able have MeTV added back in via chat. Could there be some variation in the channel package that might be the solution to it not showing up as of yet?

MeTV's bugs largely have been worked out.  It now shows up in the guide, the voice remote recognizes it, overscanning's been adjusted.  Now, if only The Reception was worthwhile.  Not a show goes by that I don't see some disruption.  I pay Comcast $200 a month for internet, cable, and alarm, with cable taking the largest chunk.  I regularly watch 1 channel.  Since it was moved MeTV has not been the same.  Programming is fine.  Quality is not.
