Losing all StarzEncore channels and MoviePlex
Today 9/4/2020 checking my September billing statement I will be losing all StarzEncore channels and also MoviePlex on Oct 27,2020. Having the digital preferred package I have been recieiving these channels since the onset of my "contract" over 1 & 1/2 yrs. (I am a 20 yr Comcast customer) Will there be any compensation from Comcast since this is NOT the "contract" I had agreed to sign besides providing inferior Streampix channels, of course NOT, unless I sign a subscrption to recieve Strarz (of course price NOT listed on the bill).
Since TCM was my favorite channel I also had to sign up for the Sports and Entertainment package another jab by Comcast.
Anyone else feel this is a common unethical and deceitful way of Comcast business practices.
This is the note on my bill:
- Effective October 27, 2020, StarzEncore, StarzEncore Westerns, StarzEncore Black, and StarzEncore Action will only be available with a subscription to Starz. They will not be included with Digital Preferred/Preferred. For more information about this change, visit xfinity.com/EncoreChanges. Effective October 27, 2020, MoviePlex will no longer be available.

Sometimes streaming is the only way to get only what you want.

When we lost Starz I did not notice a reduction in my bill.
It seems like ComCast is really not very appreciative of its long time , loyal customers.
I like the ease of using Xfinity instead of streaming, but the day of my cable cutting is comming closer and closer.

lillypad77, I watch a number of the channels under Discovery networks. I keep seeing ads for Discovery Plus which another streaming service. I will not buy into another streaming service. If these channels are only going to be in this streaming service I will be so bummed out. We have lost so many channels. I don't know if I can handle any more. Laurie

and now they are putting a bunch of channels together under Discovery Plus and there is an extra charge for that. Are they serious??? People living under covid restrictions, many not able to work or limited because the business they work for is limited or shut down and now Xfinity and Discover think it is time to raise prices. Ridiculous

I understand completely Laurie. I hope they keep the individual channels and not think we are going to pay additional to see those channels. I for one will take the final step and talk to one of my grandchildren about getting set up with another company.

I've never said this before but I may have to spend my TV entertainment money elsewhere after about 20 years. Comcast just jacked up my bill $32 per month, it's over $250 now. Said it was end of promotion. I didn't realize I had a promotion. Is everything at Comcast a promotion? And when you get to the end, up goes your bill...AGAIN......and AGAIN. After having the good channels moved and removed constantly and then increasing fees. Who is in charge of this company? Whomever you are, it is obvious you don't care about your customers!
I had Starz in my package but it was taken away. Starz is still available but I would have to pay more to get it back. I didn't get any discount when they took it away but I have to pay more to get it back.

Does this mean we could drop tv with comcast and just keep internet and get all these channels by streaming them for less the $10 a month?

Biff, we are considering dropping comcast tv and getting hulu and Discovery plus if things seem to keep going in this direction. We get a lot of channels we never use and the new movie channels are nothing we watch. Taking away TCM was a loss to us but I would gladly learn to stream all this other stuff. We have smart tvs so it would be easy to do I believe. And the price would be much much lower. When things like cable tv have made themselves into a monopoly they think we are stuck with them and they can do what they want. Now that new services are here we can start picking things we want. At Christmas our children and grandchildren are going to talk to us about our options.

Comcast greed strikes again!
This company seems to do everything that it can to encourage people to cut the cord. Encore was replaced by channels that I already had.

I am also disgusted - monthly price increased to over $300 yet we've lost Premium channels Cinemax, Starz/Encore and Movieplex.
