"Live Games" vs. "Live Programming" when setting REMINDER OPTIONS for sports team (and how to avoid unavailable channels)

I have reminders set up for a sports team. When I go to my reminder options, under AIRING TYPE, I have three options:

Live Programming
All Programming
Live Games Only

(1) What is the difference between "live games only" and "live programming"
(2) Is there any way to avoid seeing channels I don't have that are connected to the reminders?
For example, when there is a live game on, I am prompted to ignore the reminder or go to the game (I forget the exact choices). When I choose to watch the game now, I sometimes get a message that a subscription is required for that channel. This happens when the game is "not on TV," so I guess the channel it takes me to is a local channel for the team, but not local to me.
I would love to be able to block that channel from the reminder!

Also, I found the guide below, but there was no mention of Sports or Games. Is there another guide for Sports Team Reminders?
