@66mustangsally Good afternoon! Thank you for reaching out to our Community Forums Team for assistance with MeTV. I would be happy to take a look into your channel lineup, and get you the infromation needed for this subscription. To begin, can you please Direct Message your name and service address?
To send a "Peer to peer" message: Click "Sign In" if necessary • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. Then why don't we get channel 1172 as they advertised? I'm so %$#@ tired of paying high prices for channels I don't watch. Guess it's time to just cancel it all and save nearly $200 a month.
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

They said as of 10/1/22 that Metv would be available on channel 1048. Well it's not! It's another promo asking me to sign up for some other channel I don't want. I understand from Exfinity that they didn't change any stations, that it was Sinclair Broadcast. Well, that sent chills down my spine. Exfinity don't you have any leverage or can't you lean on Sinclair to bring back Metv? Every time the word Sinclair pops up there's always trouble around, or coming soon. If as customers we pay large bills for tv every month,( I pay almost 300 bucks a month and I don't get one of the stations that I was told is in my package that I signed up for.) Please explain to me how it works that Sinclair controls what customers watch and on what channel. The things they do reflect on you Exfinity. You signed us up for certain stations and Sinclair takes them away, and you do nothing about it. Customers will be leaving you not Sinclair. Will you please get an answer why Sinclair took Metv off and lied about it being on another station. Like I said, when the word Sinclair comes up, so does trouble.
As noted many times: MeTV is a broadcast network for over-the-air TV stations, as in using an antenna. But, most TV stations get billions in revenue from cable and satellite rebroadcast rights. Sinclair and Scripps were PAYING Weigel Broadcasting for the rights to air MeTV. S&S then use that to negotiate retransmission fees with Comcast and similar. But, being media giants, they have their own networks, and it's cheaper (more profitable) to air their own, even if viewership is lower.
In other words, blame the continuing monopolization of corporate America and worship of the Almighty Dollar into forcing the average pawn to do what Corporate America wants them to do, and make them pay for it.
Again, being a broadcast network, Comcast can do nothing unless another local station picks it up. And even then, those pesky retransmission rights and even basic technical configuration can get in the way.
MeTV is on Xfinity--Channel 1156--but you have to pay extra-I went there and it said you need a new subscription to watch it--Xfinity treats their customers like sh-t. I am working on cutting the cord--just can't stand doing business with such an unethical and unprofessional company. Just when you thought Xfinity couldn't do anything to treat us worse--they keep coming up with new ways.
Yes, MeTV is still on Xfinity--it just moved to channel 1156--which you need to pay for a new subscription to watch. Just when you thought Xfinity couldn't treat their customers any worse, they keep coming up with new ways. They treat us like sh-t--and most will just take it. I am working on cutting the cord as I can do without 90% of their channels. I just can't do business with such an unethical and unprofessional company. Oh--I went to tell them about this--I am #259 in line to get to text with a real person!!!! Worst customer service on the planet!
@walt18013 Where did you find out that you had to pay for MeTV? I was told it wasn't on set top boxes, but on the Xfinity Stream app only (and possibly X1). Just curious as I do enjoy MeTV.
Be a bit patient when a new channel is added. You don't need a new subscription. It can sometimes take a day or two for the permissions and other technical stuff to roll out to all the boxes. MeTV is a broadcast network and all broadcast channels are typically included in every TV package.
@andyross I was in contact with someone with the Advanced Repair team, and they indicated it was only accessible via Xfinity Stream. That wouldn't be so bad, but the stream has pillarboxed things in such a way that it chops off enough of the sides that it makes it almost unwatchable. MeTV has already altered their aspect ratio, so the two together isn't great. If it does come back to the set top boxes and in the regular format before the channel change, that would be ideal.
@andyross Would you happen to know if MeTV will be available on set top boxes (legacy, x1)? From the information I was given, it's only available via Xfinity Stream. It sounds like some people in the area have it and some don't.
Where is MeTV for Champaign, Urbana area. Channel 231 is now "True Crime". We pay $260/month and watch MeTv approximately 6-8 hours per day. MeTV is the most popular "oldies" channel in the US. Please don't tell me Comcast has cancelled a most popular channel for "True Crime"
@zamcoinc , agree 100%. I don't watch MeTV 6-8 hrs /day but do like to watch the old reruns of Hitchcock and Twilight Zone. Finally got thru to a accented employee and she told me MeTV is no longer available and yes, True Crime is now playing . We need another "crime" show as if we don't have enough crime in this country w/o seeing more on TV . The old TV shows were decent and respectable programs but we are hostage to those in control. At 79 I should just cut the cord/cable and say sayonara Xfinity/comcast and I've been with them for 30years ++.

Please read through the threads on this. Your local TV station changed networks. Comcast just passes on what is aired and has no control over what network it is.
I am so sick and tired with Comcast that I am considering changing to Dish. I have been with Comcast since I moved to Oregon in 2010. I don't know what they did to METV but it just isn't working the way it should. They switched it from 302 to 1156. Ever since they changed it the picture goes in and out of a dark screen to the channel and then a dark screen and then back to the channel. I am livid with the customer service the Comcast has. When I asked someone to repeat what they said, they got angry with me becauseTI couldn't understand their heavy accent. She got so upset when I asked her what she just said, she became so rude. Comcast what have you done to MeTv?? Do you know how annoying it is to watching something and then all of a sudden the screen turns black. I pay a lot of money for Comcast but because of their incompetence and rude customer service reps, I am going to another carrier. I am going to change to Dish. Everyone is opting out of cable anyway and going to streaming services and now I know why. They are expensive and the customer service is bad. Well, that's it bye-bye Comcast.
I can understand you are frustrated. Unfortunately, there are times when things will change. As stated above, Please read through the threads on this. Your local TV station changed networks. Comcast just passes on what is aired and has no control over what network it is. You can think of us as the middle man, they get us the material and we put it out for everyone to see. As far as the screen going black, I am happy to help you troubleshoot if you would like. You can send us a DM with your name and address if you would like to do some troubleshooting by following these directions:

There was a post on MeTV that it would be back on Comcast today on channel 1197. Still isn’t on there. Is this not going to happen?
