How does the Xfinity XiD-P Pace PXD01ANI rental cost $22 bucks per month?!

Well it was that time again. Comcast promos were running out and our bill for 2 TVs was going to hit $400! So we spent 2 days cutting channels and discussing with an agent. Basically got less of a package (internet did go from 800 to 1gig which is basically a moot point) for roughly the same cost. 

And then TV #2 didn't work. (Why does this happen every time a new package is put into place?) So off to the app. 30 minutes later it was activated and lo and behold it wasn't previously activated because the first agent (done via Twitter) forgot it. Now that 'basically less of a package at roughly the same cost' was going to run an additional $22 bucks for this almost 20 year old box of $4 worth of parts so we can continue to use our (very) old non HD TV.
