How do I stop auto-tuning to hd? Same old run around!
i have had the x1 system for over a year. I was able to see the sd channels better than the hdtv channels. I would sometimes watch some channels in hdtv. About three weeks ago, I started getting auto-tune to hd. My dvr box would make a clicking sound from time to time. I have called customer service. They sent out a tech. He didn't understand what I was trying to say. When I turned to a sd channel for instance channel 3 it would now go to channel 803. The tech told switched the tv set to sd and said I would lose some programming. I was so aggravated and confused I agreed. I thought problem solved. No it still is auto-tuning to hdtv and now I can't get everything that I pay for and I have been a loyal customer since 2007! Only late one time on paying my bill. As a footnote I checked my recordings from last year. Same box, same tv set and it recorded on an sd tv channel.

Here's how I turn that off:
Bring up the menu at the bottom of the screen (the one that says Guide, Saved, and so on)
Select the cog/sprocket/whatever that is on the far right to bring up the settings screen
Go down to "Preferences" and select it
Select "General"
Go down to "Prefer Best Available Resolution"; if it says "On", select that line to change it to "Off"
Press Exit on your remote to exit the settings screen
It "should" no longer automatically jump to HD when you select an SD channel.
