How do I force a channel guide update ?

Let's say I skip a guide update because I was watching a program. Now the program has ended & I want to do a guide update before my scheduled recordings take place in case something has changed.

How do I do a manual or forced guide update?

To force an Xfinity channel guide update, you can initiate a X1 System Refresh. This process can be triggered through the Xfinity X1 Help menu, by saying "System Refresh" into your voice remote, or by pressing the "A" button on your remote.

I thought the "System Refresh" was to fix problems such as the DVR not working properly. I was not aware that it also did channel guide updates. Thanks.

Concern moved here to the X1 help section.

What do you mean by a channel guide update?  Haven't heard of that before.  System Refresh is a fairly extreme step and will shutdown all your boxes and recordings for 10-20 minutes.

It's the EPG or guide that lists the channels & programs.

In the settings > preferences I can set the "Daily Update Time". I always thought that meant the channels were being updated with the latest program data.

Not sure what is included in the Daily Update, which is normally scheduled overnight when most people are sleeping.  Not aware of a way trigger it manually.  I suppose you could change the time to do the update in the next two hours window.  But, the Daily Update reboots all the boxes and stops all recordings scheduled during the update
