Hitz replacing Cinemax? Really?

You're replacing all of the Cinemax channels from packages with this on-demand Hitz garbage that has a "rotating list of more than 200 movie titles"?

And, of course, you're not lowering the price of our packages either.  How do you really see Hitz as an equal replacement of Cinemax?  We're losing six channels, all of Cinemax's original programming, and they currently have almost 300 movies on-demand.

Agree completely. Substituting an inferior product for what was purchased is at best demeaning to subscribers and at worst a breach of trust, if not contract. And to force this change in the middle of viewing a running series is just plain rude. Exchanging original content for old second run movies is a bad deal. And to think this move comes at a time when cable companies are facing a wave of cord cutting is mind-boggling! We should at the very least be given the option to waive the poor substitute of Hitz and receive a reduction of $12/mo for one less premium offering in the package we thought we purchased. So disappointed in Comcast.

As a long term customer, this decision to replace Cinemax with Hitz was a disastrous and disappointing one.  Cinemax has original content that I enjoyed watching and now I have to subscribe to it for an additional 12 or 13 dollars a month?  Come on,Comcast! Where is your sense of customer service?  This was truly a very bad decision.

I do not feel like Hitz on demand is an acceptable replacement for Cinemax. There is not one single new movie on hotel and there is no original programming. Previous responses state Comcast talks with programmers to bring customers what they want. You might want to try listening to actual customers. Several other channels were also dropped. The only thing that did not drop was the cost of my package.

I see at the top of this conversation it says, “Answered” and

Sorry Comcast Jessie, that is not an answer it is a marketing spiel. It just does not make sense, if Comcast removes Cinemax and replaces it with a “channel” that would cost you the same if you would add Cinemax., the dollars are a wash, so leave the package I signed up for alone. You (Comcast) could give your customers the option which channel to keep as part of their package. I want the package I signed up for which includes Cinemax, I do not want Hitz. BTW, when I found out about this change I looked to see what would be the next 3 movies on Cinemax and then did a search for those movies, the result was zero. So I would conclude that Hitz is not an appropriate replacement.

Xfinity has removed Cinemax from the contract we agreed to without my knowledge or consent yet they still offer it for an additional 12.99  a month. I called customer service and they put me on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up because i wouldnt agree to thier reply about hitz and hbo absorbing the movies you cannot take part of my contract away and expect me to pay the same amount. . i am going to deduct 13.80 from my bill every month to compensate for the removal of cinemax which was a part of the contract i signed,

Doing so will generate late fees.  And Comcast's Residential Agreement allows them to do just as they did:

Soooooo... I have been a customer for quite some time. I pay for the top triple play package. Cinemax was included in said package. Apparently, in June it was removed from packages, without me being made aware. It was also substituted with an inferior option, something called Hitz, which is like Netflix. I called in to see why I was being denied access to cinemax and I figured all that out. First guy tells me Hitz is valued at 5.99 per month and I noticed cinemax was offering me a subscription for 12.00 per month. How can they just switch you to an inferior service with no refund, or reduction in price, or heck, a phone call? That's not even the best part. I escalated up to a supervisor, who began to tell me how great cinemax and was really relating to the issue. I just about got over it. I said, "so in the next few months it's possible they'll clean up whatever issues they are having putting it in packages and I might get it back?" He proceeds to TRY AND SELL ME CINEMAX FOR 12.00 PER MONTH, AND OFFERS ME THE FIRST MONTH FREE! This infuriated me. What the heck is going on Comcast? HOW DARE YOU?!?! Do I need to jump ship and head to FiOS? I mean seriously. I'm furious!

Today, Aug. 12, 2019, I learned that Comcast switched my six channels of Cinemax to "Hitz." WHAT A JOKE!

I have yet to find a movie on Hitz made this decade, let alone any kind of original programming. Does Comcast actually believe it is okay to trade six channels of Cinemax for there channels of Hitz? After all, who else has the nerve to list Thelma & Louise," "The Terminator," and "Ice Pirates." as "Featured" films. "Hello Comcast, the 1980s called, and they want their VHS movies returned to Blockbuster!

This 20+ year Comcast subscriber is now seriously considering cutting the cable. I can watch the same garbage that Comcast is showing on Hitz on Amazon Prime and still get second day delivery on purchases. Any Internet provider can sell gigabit internet, without a useless landline, for much less than $307.00/month.

I sent the following comment to Xfinity

I am completely dissatisfied. I pay a significant monthly fee and now have a reduction in service by eliminating Cinemax and asking for an extra subscription fee, The excuse that many of the movies on Cinemax are also on HBO. Cinemax has original series which are not on HBO. The replacement was HITZ which has no new movies and HITZ appears to be something Xfinity created. When first announced there was nothing on their website. This replacement is a ripoff.

Response

Sorry. I would love to help you out, but I am a new bot and still learning. I have trouble understanding long questions. Try something like "What's my bill?" You can also use one of the options here.

I feel that Comcast/Xfinity failed to inform the customer of this change in programming of the network in question, they could have done a better job of this. I have been with other providers and they issued a warning for the possible loss of the channel in advance, not just gone today. When I contacted customer support I was informed of the issue and they would get the channel back if I paid the additional fees, when I was sold the package it would include all premium channels now I’m told it would be available to me for $13 more a month come on Comcast you need to inform your customer better and not have them call you and get the information second hand.

HITZ does NOT provide more value than Cinemax. First of all, when I signed up for my package I did not agree to three channels that show the same dated movies on demand. I pay a lot of money to Comcast and for years have not felt it is worth it. It is convenience that has kept me. This latest move drove me to actually research streaming options and learned I can get everything I have now. As soon as I find a new internet provider I am gone. This is after 24 years with TCI/Comcast/Xfinity. I doubt it matters to Comcast.

I have added my comments to the issue about Comcast dropping Cinemax and "replacing" it with Hitz. As a longtime unappreciated customer I am used to this type of treatment and it is what you get when you decide to continue to do business with the company. All that being said, overall I have one major issue I would like to see if it can be addressed. If I cannot have Cinemax that I have been paying for can you remove the listing from the channel guide in the area of the other movie channels that I do have. I keep seing movies that I want to see and don't pay attention to the channel and click on it and get the message to subscribe and admittedly get frustrated that I keep doing it. So move the Cinemax listing to only the higher numbers because if anyone is paying the EXTRA $12 they can look for the channels.

I paid for a bundle which includes Cinemas. I want it back at no additional cost as per our contract.
