GOLF4K Ch 1353

I see that an actual 4K golf channel has been added and will have the first two rounds of the Players In 4K HDR this week.  It's the first time I've seen a 4K channel outside of the ones added during the Olympics.  Anyone at Xfinity know if 1353 is permanent?

The PGA took over technical production from CBS and NBC for most events this year and said they'd be doing it in 4K.  Glad to see it's now being distributed in 4K as well. I haven't seen anything, one way or another, about whether this is native 4K the whole way or upconverted from 1080p at the end.

Xfinity - Is going to be possible to record this channel in 4K on an XG1v4?  Thanks.

I thought maybe because it's now a channel.  But, guess not since I got an error message when I tried to schedule a recording for Thursday's program.

The PGA has taken over technical work from CBS and NBC for most of their tournaments, so this seems like it could be a longer term deal.  Sure hope so.  Comcast has never added a channel for occasional or irregular 4K events.  It looks great today.  And autotune works to get to the 4K channel if you go to the HD one.  But, can't record it.

The weekend rounds are shown on NBC and they have to protect local stations and their ads.  Stations don't broadcast in 4K and Golf Channel cannot carry the event when it's on the main network. So, we got Thursday/Friday 4K and then back to HD on the weekend.

So, now that a month has passed, have you seen this channel coming back on, or any other HD channel in it's place? Was hoping that they would put the NBC Sports 4K channel and maybe one other special 4K channel as a permanent fixture on the menu, but I think you'll be able to ice skate in hell before that happens.

No 4K channels since Golf4K went away.   Presumably, there will be at least one for the Olympics as they had two the last go around.
