Enhanced 4K Sports
Well, this is new. The voice search for 4K displays three programs, college football on both ABC/ESPN and Fox along with EPL soccer on NBC. All in HDR on my XG1v4 box with the ABC game also in Atmos.
The ABC game had washed out video until midway through the 3rd Q, when someone fixed it. A good deal of macroblocking on all three events, which improved once the soccer coverage ended, suggesting that was an Xfinity issue.
So glad to see this increased amount of 4K sports coverage.

At least the soccer was in native 4K. Have watched NBC Sports feed of EPL soccer and it’s very sharp and clear when compared with the 1080p upconverted of Fox or ABC/ESPNs product. My TV does almost as good of a job with its scaling chip from a 1080 signal through an app of course since the cable feed is all 720p. They need to start using 1350 and dedicate at least one or two more 4K channels to start with. Hopefully in 5 years or so they’ll be as many 4K channels as they have HD now (by then maybe they’ll remove the SD to make more room)

Do you have a source for EPL soccer being native 4K? I've never seen that confirmed anywhere. ESPN did some native 4K SDR a few years ago, but no more. All other 4K sports in the US has been upconverted 1080.

Sky Sports UK and other companies are the ones producing the EPL programming so they use native 4K when I inquired a couple of years ago. As far as I know they are still using that format and it shows. Was lucky to have watched NESNs 4K (native) Bruins vs Panthers game the other day and again the native 4K is very apparent (can read the fine print on signs around the arena). When I posted my displeasure with some Comcast production in less, it was taken down by Xfinity as being “inflammatory”. Well I guess if inflammation is what it takes to get noticed then perhaps they need a little more histamine release, lol. Strange because Sky Sports is also a Comcast company, who does it right (at least in the UK). Maybe they didn’t like me posting how many Billions they made last year and why they couldn’t re-invest some into upgrading to the state of the art equipment. It only improves their product and when you do that history has shown most of the time it also improves your bottom line. Guess time will tell (if they don’t take this down too).

EPL may be produced in 4K. The question is whether it stays 4K all the way to the US audience.
