E. W. Scripps Programming Agreement Expired

E. W. Scripps cable network programming is currently unavailable as our agreement with E. W. Scripps has expired.

Please know we pay programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and a number of reasonable offers have been made and they haven’t been accepted. Comcast is working toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for customers. I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience.

[Edited: "Language"]  Why do I keep paying for so much money for many channels that I don't even want, but the ones that I do (local channels by the way), are no longer available?  Really need to re-think this.

This issue needs to be resolved immediately! We pay enough for cable and this is not acceptable!

Please bring Channel 7 back. Majority of the shows I watch is on this channel. Looking into buying an antenna and cancelling.

We have lost NBC here in Colorado Springs however, NBC in Denver is still broadcasting. And Colorado Springs still has ABC and Denver does not. This could be a simple programming change by Xfinity to switch the two channels temporarily and broadcast the Denver channel in Colorado Springs and vice versa. Not hard to do, and a good faith gesture for your already overcharged consumers.

115clp47gmailcom Comcast works to negotiate fair terms in order to ensure the greatest value for customers, given all the ways content can be accessed today. A number of reasonable offers have been made that E. W. Scripps hasn’t accepted. Comcast continues to work towards making this programming available again with fair pricing and terms for our customers.

I want to know that too. I'm on hold right now with customer service. Probably a waist of time though.

If it is not back in a week, why should I not just switch to Verizon Fios?

Please put back NBC back on my xfinity. We as customers should not be penalized for ongoing negotiations when every year you increase prices anyway. I want to be able to watch the KY Derby next weekend. We should refunded for all the time we could not have access to NBC.

When will the Scripps contract be finalized? And are you issuing credits to customers. I fail to understand why xfinity could not anticipate the contract end and negotiate a fair price in advance to provide continuity of service to customers. The subscription rate is already outrageous. This inconvenience is one more reason for me to seek entertainment elsewhere.

Good evening @user_alee0r, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums, we appreciate it. On March 31, 2026, Comcast’s agreement with E. W. Scripps to carry its programming expired.

Comcast compensates programmers to deliver the entertainment, news, and sports our customers value. We work to negotiate fair and reasonable terms to ensure the best value for customers, especially given the many ways content can be accessed today. While Comcast has made multiple reasonable proposals, E. W. Scripps has not accepted them. We continue working toward an agreement that would allow this programming to return under fair pricing and terms for our customers.

For additional details, please visit: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/ew-scripps-agreement-expired.

Comcast is proactively issuing credits to some Xfinity Video customers who:

  • Lost programming due to the E. W. Scripps contract expiration and
  • Pay an itemized Broadcast TV (BTV) fee

Credit amounts range from $1.70 to $9.62, depending on individual customer circumstances.

Please note:

  • Only customers who pay a Broadcast TV (BTV) fee are eligible for a credit.
  • Customers who do not pay a BTV fee will not receive a credit.

Eligible customers will receive their credit on May 1 or on their next billing cycle.

I’m thinking about leaving  Comcast/Xfinity altogether.  I pay too much not to have ABC one of my main channels. This has forced me to consider other ways to watch.

How do you lose access to (free) over the antenna programming?

How do you charge people $300.+ and cant afford free over the antenna programming?

Why should this cost come out of my pocket?

Hi there, @AzulDiabolus66! Comcast pays networks and station owners for the ability to deliver their programming to Comcast customers. Agreements are negotiated to bring customers the best value for the content they want. For more information, see xfinity.com/howitworks. Comcast is proactively issuing credits to some Xfinity Video customers who lost programming due to the EW Scripps contract expiration and who also pay an itemized Broadcast TV fee. Eligible customers will receive a credit on May 1, or on your next billing cycle.

You've already addressed how useless you are getting our channels back.

Why have you never addressed what is happening with our money that we are paying you for these services?
