Read the other thread. DIscovery Plus is a SEPARATE streaming service by Discovery Networks. Comcast has no control over it. They are NOT taking away any channels.

Why will Discovery Plus be an extra charge as I have read? You have raised my rate and removed benefits (Norton anti-Virus). Shouldn't some additional value be provided to compensate your customers? Please don't stop with just Discovery Plus as there are several others.

Do you like CBS less because you have to pay for CBS All Access (soon to be Paramount +.) Or how about Disney? You only get Peacock free because it's owned by Comcast.

To recap, Discovery has channels on Xfinity, no changes are expected to these channels?
Discovery is launching a streaming app called Discovey plus. Included, or should include all thier discovery programs plus the new Maganolia network.
Eventualy/most liklye an app will be included like all the other apps in the on demand section of xfinify. Think of Netflix and HULU. You would pay for access to this app which has nothign to do with Xfinity. Yes some duplicaiton may exist, your choice to pay Discovery + and or complain to them....
The newDiscovey Plus straming service is availble January 4th. If you want it ASAP there is nothing stopping you from accessing Discovery Plus on another medium on January 4th, then when it becomes availbe on Xfiniy just logon with your account you created.
Did I have it correct?
Thanks for the answers and patience with a few..:)

Exactly right and an excellent breakdown. The only thing that you may be mistaken about is including the whole Magnolia network, something totally different, but will have content included.

In my view, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.
HBO is an extra charge to my cable bill. If HBO Max cost me extra again, I could just cancel HBO from my cable and sign up for HBO Max. So HBO says, what the heck, have them both.
Discovery and CBS know that I can't cancel them individually from my cable bill, so they feel OK about squeezing me more for their extra service.
HBO squeezed me upfront. CBS and Discovery want to squeeze me later.

Andy, in response to your question of whether I like CBS less because they charge for CBS All Access, the answer is a BIG YES, I do like them less. They are capable of producing great programming like The Good Fight and Star Trek Discovery (unlike most of the drek they show OTA) but they place it behind an additional pay wall. I like them a lot, lot less because of it.

Unfortunately, over the next 2-3 years, I think some smaller linear channels will be shut down and their programming moved to the streaming services. Even the bigger linear channels may start to become more second-run of streaming shows. CBS has been airing Season 1 of ST:Discovery. The CW aired Swamp Thing and Tell Me A Story, both of which were streaming series (admittedly, pandemic delayed production is behind much of that.)

THIS is what bothers me. I'm a fan of "90 Day Fiance", and have kept up with all the spinoffs, too. Now maybe they will keep those (maybe only old reruns) on the basic cable I pay for now... but I'm going to miss all this wonderous 'new content' that's going to be only on Discover+.
Who else is all this new content aimed at, if not viewers like me? Who else would even understand all the OLD characters and content, never mind the new? So why is all the new stuff going on the new service, where no one who hasn't been watching the show all along is even going to get what's going on?
This sort of thing makes me not want to care what happens on any other tv show ever again, if they're just hooking me now so they can make me pay later. My cable bill is high enough now, thank you!

Read through the multiple other threads. It may or may not be availabe through X1 immediately, but will probably be available on other devices. I don't think Discovery Networks has detailed what devices will be supported yet.

Again. THERE WILL BE NO CHANNELS REMOVED FROM THE CABLE LINEUP!!!! Discovery+ is a SEPARATE streaming service similar to Disney+, AMC+, HBO Max, etc... All shows currently on the linear channels will remain there. Some newer shows are exclusive to Discovery+.

I'm a 90 day fan too, @NekronsLovesong. I just heard this today. Not happy about any of this.
