Create TV Being Removed From Lineup

I was watching Create TV and a banner appeared at the bottom of the screen saying it will be removed from the lineup on January 1st. Is this something that was Comcast's decision? If so, I would very much like the network to stay.

I am so disappointed.  I only keep Comcast because of Create TV.  So very disappointed.

(of course I can only read one line of banner message……the second line is not visible on my screen…..maybe they are only changing the channel number?)

Hello user_zbgo0k thank you so much for taking the time to reach us here via our Xfinity Forums, and for adding your voice to the conversation! This channel change occurred because the local carrier is no longer able to continue broadcasting,  unfortunately there's not much we can do on our end. We do regularly review all channel programming options, and will always strive to provide channel options that can fit any household.

What does that mean? Who is the local carrier and why can't they continue broadcasting? Please explain in clearer language.

Create TV is one of the few channels that is commercial free, with high quality programs.  We are Very disappointed with Comcast, and are going to look elsewhere.

That said, we regularly review all channel programming options and remain committed to offering a lineup that provides something for every household. Your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us shape those decisions. included below is a helpful document with more information. Apologies for any incoviene this may have caused.

Add me to the list of angry customers. Create is literally TV comfort food. How much more greedy can Comcast get?

@user_ljqamp Xfinity's reply said that Create is stopping broadcasting.  How can they carry a channel that will be off the air?  My feeling is this could be due to funding for public broadcasting being cut by the federal government.

Create is not stopping broadcasting. The PBS station that carries it locally is not going to be carrying it any longer.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?! We love the Create channel in our house. Wow! This is unacceptable.

Good afternoon user_512u5z this change is due to local programming changes, and not a decision of Comcast. I certainly get upset when a channel I enjoy goes away for sure. We do regularly review our programming lineup to provide our customers the best content we can.

@user_w50ftf Thanks for adding a post to the community. The local affiliate station is no longer carrying it, meaning we'll lose access to it as well as our customers that love and enjoy the content. We hope they add it to another channel at least, or have it back soon.

So disappointed.

I wonder if Comcast Xfinity and its parent companies donate any funds to PBS. They saw fit to donate to Trump‘s ballroom, but I don’t know if they have any compassion for their customers and the local PBS stations that were affected by the government spending cuts

This change was not a change decided by Comcast.

@wallyk52 Yes, WLVT  PBS39 is who isn't going to be broadcasting it any longer. That's who we should be complaining to about this.

user_10k9j0 thank you for using the Xfinity Community Forums page to reach out. This is actually not a change as a result of Comcast. You can find more information from the network's website using this hyperlink.

Unfortunately, this is a move made by WLVT as result of funding cuts.  This is part of an e-mail i received:

Sadly, I have the unpleasant job of sharing that the Create and WORLD channels will be removed from our program line-up as of January 1, 2026. There are a few factors at play, but funding is most certainly the largest. The channel should still be available through other carriers / PBS stations. Local listings can be found on their websites: https://www.CreateTV.com and https://WorldChannel.org
Thank you again for your support and viewership. My apologies for the sad news.
With thanks,
Darice

Add me to the list of angry customers.  We pay far too much for too many nonsense channels.  Create TV is one of the good ones and Xfinity should find a way to keep it in the lineup.

... Create TV ... will be removed from the lineup on January 1st. ...

Not a Comcast/Xfinity decision. To express your unhappiness with this decision, write or call your US senators and representatives. They are the ones who decided to stop funding PBS, leaving the network and its stations scrambling for ways to stay on the air. Cutting costs by dropping programs is, unfortunately, a part of that effort.

I'm not a Comcast employee, just an extremely disappointed customer. WLVT is a smaller PBS station. They were providing Create TV through Comcast. WLVT lost funding due to our government's cuts, as did most PBS stations. WLVT can no long afford Create TV. As I see it, the only chance of getting it back in the Philadelphia/SNJ area is if WHYY picks it up (which is very unlikely though they used to air it until 2013) or if Comcast picks up another station that can air it in our area. Comcast can afford to do whatever they want to figure something out to get it back to their viewers. However, they tend show very little interest in customers who are focused on the arts, travel, cooking, DIY and culture. There is no substitute for Create TV. It's a bit stunning Comcast doesn't see the value in it for our viewing area when it's available to 85% of the U.S TV markets and households.
