COMET TV Broadcasting Dabl Programming

I have dealt with this situation before but, despite multiple emails and phone calls to Comcast and the networks, I have never received a satisfactory explanation.

I have Comcast cable tv and internet service.  COMET TV is supposed to broadcast on ch. 183 and Dabl on ch. 181.  Why does ch. 183, COMET TV, repeatedly start showing Dabl programming for no apparent reason?  This is happening more and more frequently on tv.  On the streaming app. COMET currently has no picture at all.

Calling cust. service and the usual, "resetting the box", doesn't help.  I am paying a way too much for persistent problems like this and no answers.  I don't want to see home design, when I'm in the middle of watching a movie!  I have again contacted WGNO, the local station which broadcasts both channels.  The signals are sent from there and carried by Comcast.  Someone needs to address the issue and/or explain what's wrong.

A check on Wikipedia's article on WGNO shows it does not carry Comet. A check of the Comet TV site shows that for New Orleans, it is now on WNOL. It does not list a Comcast channel number, so it's possible Comcast does not have an agreement with WNOL to pass it on yet. It's most likely a recent change. Both stations are part of Nexstar Media Group.

I don't know what Comcast has or hasn't done, but they have been broadcasting COMET TV for well over a year.  I gave up calling cust. service because I can never get a straight answer.  It's always "reset the box, you need a service call, or I don't know".  Last year I called several times and got nowhere.  I wrote to the COMET network, which suggested I contact the local station, etc., etc.

As it happens, WGNO "is part of CW affiliate WNOL-TV (channel 38). The two stations share studios".  (wgno.com)  Therefore, Dabl and COMET come from the same place.  WNOL used to broadcast This TV and it would sometimes switch to the CW.

Once or twice wouldn't be such a big deal, but these switches happen randomly, at any time.  Either the station or the cable feed is messed up.

Just because they come from the same place doesn't mean they share a transmitter. If it changes broadcast channels, then changes need to be made in either retransmission agreements or however Comcast gets the signal. The agreement may only be for specific broadcast channel NUMBERS and not networks that air on a particular channel.

I don't know anything about Comcast's retransmission agreements.  All I know is I'm paying a fortune for cable tv and certain stations suddenly switch programs, back and forth, while the channel number never changes.  First you see it, then you don't, like a high-tech. game of peek-a-boo!  It's not my job to figure out the problem, yet everyone else keeps passing the buck.

This is the reply I received from the station.

If you don't know anything about the situation, as you have said twice now, you might consider being more willing to listen to the pther posters in this thread, who probably do?

And what am I supposed to do with that information, tell Comcast to change their retransmission agreement?  How often do they listen to customers' suggestions?  The network and local station say, 'not our fault'.  Everything I have read is just speculation.  If the issue really is with the cable company's transmission, then the COMPANY has to fix it, or admit that they can't.

Regardless of whether I know what's wrong or not, I have no control over what or how the network, local station, or the cable company chooses to broadcast.  I have called/written to all.  It seems the three do not communicate with one another either.  There is nothing else I can do on my end, except pay the bill.

As it appears no one is able or willing to take responsibilty for the malfunction, I see no reason to put more time and effort into the issue.  My contract is expires soon, and I will be cutting the cord.  I'll have to put up with it until then . . . .problem solved.
