Cardinals not being broadcast in Memphis, TN

Almost a month into the 2025 baseball season and I have yet to see one St. Louis Cardinals game televised on Xfinity in Memphis, TN. All that is offered is the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds. I've reached out to both FanDuel and Xfinity and have received no response from either party. I'm subscribed to the Ultimate tier which apparently doesn't make any difference in the Cardinals triple-A team home city. How about offering the FanDuel Sports Midwest channel during the baseball season?

Well, according to MLB.tv, Memphis is in the Cardinals' "local broadcast zone" (along with the Braves and Reds), so you should have access to FanDuel Sports Midwest.

I find it hard to believe that you don't get the channel, as it also includes the Memphis Grizzlies. How did people with Xfinity in Memphis watch Grizzlies games?

You are correct that we are in the Cardinals local broadcast zone. However, all of our games are rebroadcast from FanDuel Sports Midwest onto either FanDuel Sports South or FanDuel Sports Southeast. In the past programming congestion was so bad that they were broadcasting some of the games on a standard definition alternate channel. Over the past few years as Bally Sports some of the games would be advertised to be shown but never aired. In Memphis we're in the TV market to see the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Memphis Grizzlies, and Nashville Predators.  Realignment to the Midwest TV sports market would make more sense in the Mid-South.

@user_vpz1yz I doubt we'll get FanDuel Sports Midwest, because that channel also carries St. Louis Blues hockey games, and that would conflict with the Nashville Predators.

Supposedly, the Cardinals games are available on "FanDuel Sports Southeast Extra", but I can't find that channel on my guide. Xfinity, a little help for your subscribers in Memphis, please?

@user_es3se4 - they would do what NBC (formerly Fox) Sports Bay Area and California do. Everybody in San Francisco has to get both, as one has the baseball Giants and the other the baseball Athletics and NHL Sharks. However, the one with the Giants has the NBA Warriors, while the other has the NBA Kings, and the NBA will not allow anyone to get both sets of games, so each has a separate version of its feed with the NBA games removed - i.e. people in the "Warriors region" get the version of NBC Sports California without the Kings games, and people in the "Kings region" get the version of NBC Sports Bay Area without the Warriors games.

As for the Cardinals, maybe the channel is under some crazy name - try going to the guide and searching for "cardinals" (press 2, 2, 7, 3, and so on) to see if any games show up.

Thanks for the suggestion. What you mentioned is what had occurred in the past when the feed was under the Fox Sports/Bally Sports umbrella. There is no broadcast on any of the channels available including the MLB Extra Innings channel.

user_vpz1yz, Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. I can certainly understand how important it is to enjoy your watching your favorite team this baseball season as a sports fan myself. Our content teams are constantly working to bring you the best and widest variety of programming possible. In some cases, certain factors such as licensing or contract agreements prevent us from carrying particular television episodes, series, apps, or even sports channels to watch your favorite teams. The content we are broadcast are provided to us by the networks. We’re always evaluating what we offer as our customer’s needs change, so this content may become available in the future. We always want to hear from our customers to improve our services, so I recommend leaving your feedback at our feedback section on our website here or here. Do you have any additional questions or concerns for us today?

How is this a licensing or contract agreement issue when the Cardinals have been offered in Memphis by Xfinity since the early 2000's? It's ridiculous to be charged a regional sports fee and not receiving the Cardinals broadcast that should be included with the service.

While you may have had Cardinals games broadcast in your area more frequently in previous years, every season has the potential to bring new programming agreements between the MLB and regional sports networks across the country. In the case of this season, it's also possible that the transition regional sports networks made to FanDuel Sports recently updated or changed the teams broadcast most frequently in your area.

If you visit https://getmyhometeams.com/ it should give you the ability to check your area for what teams you can expect to broadcast in it similar to the picture you shared. Keep in mind that even though the Cardinals may be shown for your area, FanDuel Sports does include a disclaimer that some teams may not available in all areas.

I also want to see the St Louis Cardinals games on Xfinity in Memphis. It makes no sense why we are seeing Cincinnati instead. The triple A club is here and Memphis has always had a lot of Cardinal fans. I wish they would correct this.

I've already reached out to the St. Louis front office and they referred me to the FanDuel Sports Network Midwest phone number. An voice greeting requests that you chat to a national customer service portal or send an email. Already tried this and it went into a run around. In previous years you could talk to someone over the phone but not anymore. Its highly unlikely any of these games will be on TV unless Xfinity and FanDuel Sports work out the technical issues that have occurred this year.

I *think* in the past, the Midwest feed was sent to the channel showing the Reds for the Memphis market. The was sometimes delayed by broadcast for Grizzlies and Predators but generally resolved once these teams were out of the playoffs.

The only solution I have found, which is a bit of a pain, is to download the FanDuel app and stream the games. This is free since Memphis is in market for the Cardinals but not the kind of service I would expect from Xfinity OR FanDuel for the price I pay for access to the games.
