@user_38f724 I think Acorn and BritBox are in cahoots 🙃. When I watch Acorn, some of the programmes have their new series on BritBox. When I used to have access to Britbox, it was the other way, i’d watch 6 series and then the rest would be on Acorn! Aaaaarrrgh.
I have access to my sister’s Prime account, and she swaps between Acorn and BritBox 😁.
@ThatDonGuy it’s a streaming service. I’m expecting to pay a monthly subscription, like all subscription apps. I can’t load the app because it’s not on Xfinity’s list of apps.
Britbox has programming from BBC, ITV and more recently Channel 4. For some programs, Iike Eastenders, it same day airing. It has much more content than Acorn.
Just get a Roku or other streaming device that supports Britbox. I watch it on my Roku. Comcast does not write the apps, they just provide a platform. Not every developer wants to write software for every different platform, especially one that is not all that common relative to devices like Roku or Amazon Fire. Also, it depends on just what data/revenue-sharing agreements are required to get on X1 versus other platforms.
You can use the "just get a Roku" for Netflix, Hulu, ESPN+ and more. It's the convenience of not needing to switch devices that would be nice. I have no problem switching to AppleTV to get to Britbox, but I paid extra for that convenience. It's about keeping customers from questioning if they need xfinity if Roku or AppleTV is easier and offers essentially the same products. It would seem to be in xfinity's interest to add the services that customers are leaving them for.....
Although I've enjoyed Acorn, friends tell me about a number of excellent BritBox shows. Was looking to subscribe and learned today that Xfinity does not carry it. Please, give the viewers what they want.
@user_58450c As has been noted before, Comcast can't just simply add services. They have to come to agreements over $$$ and the service has to create the software for the X1 platform. Comcast does NOT write the apps.

Most definitely agree. Acorn has next to nothing new in its offerings and Britbox is so much better!

Does Britbox have a "channel," or is it just a streaming service like Netflix? The Britbox website doesn't mention any cable or satellite providers.
If it is an app, then even if Xfinity added it, you would almost certainly have to pay "full price" for it - $8/month extra.
