BIG10 Network Hypocrisy

Comcast is stating we are not giving us the programming we PAY FOR because they don't have a contract agreement with Washington, Oregon, UCLA, and USC to broadcast their games.  Then how are you playing athlete profile shows for all four of these teams during the time we should be watching the BIG10 network games WE PAY FOR ? SOMEONE needs to get this resolved ASAP !!!! If "Xfinity" doesn't have a contract to show sports for these schools then how can you show the games live on other networks than the BIG10 Network ?

Hello user_dbfs39ie, thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I can understand how frustrating it must be to miss out on your favorite teams' games! The situation has to do with broadcast agreements. While Xfinity carries many networks, specific sports events, especially live games, can sometimes be subject to rights and contractual agreements between broadcasters and sports leagues.

Athlete profile shows or other related programming may still be available because they don't require the same agreements as live games. However, I understand that this isn't ideal, especially if you're expecting to watch the games on the Big Ten Network.

@XfinityChristy Comcast / Xfinity whatever you call yourself these days needs to stop talking down to your customers !  WE PAY YOUR SALARY ! You and your colleges do not understand how frustrated we are with Comcast and it's leadership !  We pay for these services and expect to watch the programming we agreed to pay for.

Your "Canned" responses from the management team are not helping get this situation resolved or making your customers any happier about their frustration with Comcast.  Comcast customer service is horrible at best and this situation is just making it worse especially with your patronizing statements.

user_dbfs39ie I want to sincerely apologize if my response came across as patronizing—that was never my intention. I completely understand your frustration, and I assure you that my response was not canned. I genuinely want to address your concerns. We do not have the rights, currently, to broadcast games airing on Big 10 Network for these four Universities at this time.

Most of the games for these universities may be available on other channels, networks, or streaming platforms.

You  can:

  • Say “UCLA football” (or something similar) into their Xfinity Voice Remote .
  • Use the C button on their Xfinity Voice Remote  to launch the X1 Sports app.
  • Use the on-screen guide to find affected games that may be available on other channels.

@XfinityChristy yet again, "Canned" response, version two. Sure, I was able to watch the first UW game, by getting a 7 day trial of FUBO! Yesterday, I watched the second UW game by using a free 21 day trial of YouTubeTV. So, I guess your response is to cancel Comcast and pick up one of the other two services actually showing the games. Great customer service!

@XfinityChristy AGAIN Comcast is misrepresenting the situation with the Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA schools !  Here is the quote sent to me from the Athletic Director and Assistant AD from the Washington Huskies:

Quote: "Comcast's contract is with the Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Network, not individual schools - i.e., they have a contract with one entity representing 18 schools instead of 18 individual contracts. This is an important aspect because it also speaks to their current stance. Comcast is the only TV provider that has refused the standard agreement with BTN to carry these games. Every other provider carries these games. Also concerning to me from a consumer's perspective is that Comcast charges you a premium for BTN while still not providing you the games you want to watch. I.e., you pay more for BTN here in Washington than I spent as a resident in Michigan until I relocated while still blacking you out from these games.  A similar issue has occurred over the past three weeks with DirecTV and Disney/ABC/ESPN.

Ultimately, you, as the customer, must decide whether to continue paying Comcast if they refuse to provide the product/ service that you desire."
Consequently Comcast / Xfinity continues to mislead and deceive customers as to what the issue truly is !!!!!!
