I just contacted Xfinity and this is what I was told. Then the agent ended the chat and did not even let me respond. Nor did he actually do anything about a refund. Guess we’ll be finding a new provider. In the world today with all of the options, no one has to put up with this.

“As a customer myself, I understand the value of stable services, and we are extremely sorry for this issue.

However, the partnership with the channel lineup has been canceled, and the ABC channel will be removed from the cable. It will not return with Xfinity. I sincerely apologize for this, but we can assist you with a refund for this channel. Thank you so much for choosing Xfinity! Have a great day, and I hope your day ends on a positive note.

Bhumi left the chat.

Live chat ended.

Thank you for contacting us.”

Good evening @user_9ffa05, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums, we appreciate it. On March 31, 2026, Comcast’s agreement with E. W. Scripps to carry its programming expired.

Comcast compensates programmers to deliver the entertainment, news, and sports our customers value. We work to negotiate fair and reasonable terms to ensure the best value for customers, especially given the many ways content can be accessed today. While Comcast has made multiple reasonable proposals, E. W. Scripps has not accepted them. We continue working toward an agreement that would allow this programming to return under fair pricing and terms for our customers.

For additional details, please visit: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/ew-scripps-agreement-expired.

Comcast is proactively issuing credits to some Xfinity Video customers who:

  • Lost programming due to the E. W. Scripps contract expiration and
  • Pay an itemized Broadcast TV (BTV) fee

Credit amounts range from $1.70 to $9.62, depending on individual customer circumstances.

Please note:

  • Only customers who pay a Broadcast TV (BTV) fee are eligible for a credit.
  • Customers who do not pay a BTV fee will not receive a credit.

Eligible customers will receive their credit on May 1 or on their next billing cycle.

Hello user_g0dy8t thanks for reaching out about the loss of channels owned by E. W. Scripps. This programming is currently unavailable as Comcast’s agreement with the network has expired. Please know Comcast pays programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and a number of reasonable offers have been made that they haven’t accepted. Comcast is working toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for customers. I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience. For more information, visit https://www.xfinity.com/facts
