Why do new customers get better deals?

Just got off the phone with customer service after I saw an advertisement for the 5y/1 gig internet plan. I asked about it but was then told that offer was only for new customers - IF I wanted that service I would have to pay more for it because I have been with Xfinity since 2020. I was also told that if I cancelled my plan I would not be considered a new customer for another 3 months.

Why are new customer's being offered better pricing? Should I switch to another provider and just keep hopping from provider to provider?

Hi there, @User_Sc1234! Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community Forum! With introductory offers, the intent is to give folks an incentive to try our services, so they can see the value and reliability of it and hopefully continue at a regular rate. Every single customer gets an introductory rate, whatever may be available when they signed up as I am sure you did. We also understand that our valued existing members would like a great deal as well. To that end, we normally have other eligible offers available. We can check to see what you may be eligible for right now too! Please send a direct message to us by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, click on the pen and paper icon, then enter “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section. Please include your full name and complete street address.

A new member that signs up for the 5yr/1 gig speed internet will save more than $3,000 more than I would as a current customer since 2020. I checked with Xfinity support and they said existing customers do not qualify for the offer.

Again - why are new customers offered better terms than existing customers?

Would you rather have people jump from provider to provider to continually find the best deal?

@User_Sc1234, and that is correct, you would not qualify for any introductory offers, but we may have other offers to help you save, so I wanted to check into it for you. My previous statement holds true to your question. Introductory rates are just that, an introductory incentive to test out the service at a lower cost, so that the quality and reliability of the service can be experienced, and hopefully the customer will continue at the regular rate. Introductory rates are offered to all customers when they sign up. I am sure you received one as well back in 2020. We are glad you decided to stay on with us, and I would be happy to explore other rates if you wish.

No worries - Quantum Fiber is offering $45 a month 1gig internet for new customers. Do you have something better than that for existing customers?
