Unnotified bill then contacted by debt collector

I drove 7 hours and went to two different stores to try and get support in-person since I don't have xfinity where I live. I asked for a Manager at the store to help me and explained I just drove a long way to get help. I was speaking to this rep claiming to be a Manager when she really wasn't. The other employee at the store told me the Manager was actually not in the store at the moment. This rep tried to then argue with me she was a Manager even when I told her the other employees told me the Manager wasn't at the store and she was not a Manager. I left these stores deeply disturbed regarding the lack of honesty, how I was treated in terms of the unprofessionalism, gaslighting, the lack of empathy, zero help, and as a whole, the lack of ethics in this company.

1). I had a rep last year try to offer me this free phone and he blatantly lied to me regarding the details. I spoke to a really good Manager in-person after this incident last year that helped me with a situation and I thought it had been resolved fully and he also helped me close out my account. It turns out, it was not resolved. I was charged a restocking fee for the phone that I never used or turned on. I returned it because of the rep that lied about the details of the phone. So if a rep in your company lied about the specific details regarding this phone (he told me I could use it with my provider at ATT, when apparently that was not the case, along with other details he was dishonest about). I should NOT be charged a restocking fee when someone at your company was dishonest to begin with, which is why the Manager helped me return the phone, but I was never notified that I would be charged a restocking fee (which I recently found in my credit card statements wondering what the weird charge was for).

2). I closed my account because of this experience. I worked with two different Managers last year in-person dealing with these account issues and was told everything was good on my account, they never mentioned a shut down fee on my account. I was never notified of the remaining balance in any form - in-person by a rep/or manager, no email, no letter. Then I get contacted the other day from a debt collector! I always pay my bills on time and have never had an experience like this with any company before. I find these charges without communicating to me in any shape or form unscrupulous and the overall dishonesty I've encountered thus far.

Due to the collection activity, my credit score was impacted severely.  If I was notified properly in any form, it would have been paid on time.  What can be done to fix this problem with my credit score?
