Unable to remove unwanted Xfinity Voice service or lower my internet bill
Hi! I recently signed up for Xfinity internet and I'm having trouble understanding my bill and making changes to my plan.
I live alone in a one-bedroom apartment and only need basic home internet for streaming and everyday use. I originally signed up for 500 Mbps internet at $45/month.
However, my October bill is now $153.13. After reviewing the bill, I noticed the following charges:
-
$45/month for 500 Mbps internet
-
$40/month for Xfinity Voice Premier (home phone)
-
An additional $40 charge for the previous billing period
-
$28.13 in taxes and fees
I don't want or use a home phone service. When I try to remove Xfinity Voice Premier online, I receive an error stating that the service cannot be removed because it may be part of a package or term agreement.
I also tried downgrading to 300 Mbps to save money, but the website quotes me $70/month for internet alone, which is more expensive than my current 500 Mbps rate.
I keep seeing a promotion for a free Xfinity Mobile Select line, but I'm not interested in that either.
What I'm trying to accomplish:
-
Remove Xfinity Voice Premier completely.
-
Have the unwanted home-phone charges and associated fees reviewed for a refund or credit.
-
Switch to an affordable internet-only plan, preferably 300 Mbps, without increasing my monthly bill.
-
Confirm that I don't have any active Xfinity Mobile services.
-
Understand whether I can keep my existing $45/month internet rate without the home-phone bundle.
My next automatic payment is scheduled for October 28, so I'd appreciate help resolving the charges before then.
Could an Xfinity representative help me review my account and explain my options? Thank you!
