Taxes, fees and other charges

The Federal Universal Services Fund, and the local Franchise Fee have not changed, yet the charges for each have increased significantly on my latest bill, from $1.48 to $2.92 and $2.79 to $3.32 respectively. Also, the State Communications Tax has not increased, but the charge has increased significantly on my latest bill, from $1.58 to $3.15.

What is the explanation for these large increases that are not supported by any changes to the underlying tax rates or fees?

Hello @user_crlv6a and thank you for posting on our Xfinity Community forums! 😀 That's a great question.

Taxes, fees, and other charges may change for a variety of reasons.  The government entity assessing the tax may have changed the amount due, or taxes may vary by your usage and rate plan.  (i.e. if your billing overall changes, it may also affect them.)

The way some of these charges are posted on your bill, and how they are affected by billing changes can vary from State to State depending on where you live as well.

You can view additional information regarding such items on your bill here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/most-common-taxes-fees-surcharges-on-your-bill
