No $10 discount when switching auto payment methods

Hello,

I received an email from Xfinity stating: "As a valued Xfinity Internet customer, you’re eligible to save $10 per month by switching your automatic payment method to a stored bank account with paperless billing". I logged in and duly made this change which caused an immediate payment without any $10 discount, in fact the amount went up by $2. I have the following questions related to this:

  1. Why the immediate payment?
  2. Why was there no $10 discount?
  3. Who can I talk to about this?

Good evening, @user_6hu9tq! Thanks for reaching out about the $10 discount. Once you change to the bank autopay method, the discount will show up within 45 days. It takes 1-2 bills before you see it on your end. I will need to check on why the payment was taken. When you update your autopay method, it doesn't usually take a payment until your next scheduled autopay time.

Warnings for other users:

  1. In my case, changing the automatic billing method caused an immediate one-time payment, 22 days ahead of the normal payment date.
  2. The $10 "discount" is not applied immediately, but in "1-2 billing cycles" or 45 days. It seems that changing the automatic billing method is akin to starting again. I'll actually pay more for a few months before the "discount" applies.

Hi @user_6hu9tq, thank you for doing your best to educate the community. By following the instructions listed in the Manage your saved payment methods article, you can change your payment methods without making a payment.

As for your second point, if the auto-pay and paperless discount is added at the time of order approval the discount is added immediately. After that time it may take up to 2 billing cycles, but often applies sooner. More details about the discount can be found by visiting https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/automatic-payment-paperless-billing

I hope we see you spend some more time on our community forums support page. You will find a wealth of Xfinity knowledge here!
