NESN removed and Regional Sports Fee went up?

I received an email in January that NESN was being removed from my TV plan.  This was fine because the email also stated that the Regional Sports Fee would go down $7.00.   I see that my recent statement shows that the fee actually went up from $15.15 to $18.25.    Not surprised that Xfinity/Comcast is not good at math, but what is going on here?  My "contract" has only gone up the last few months as the only innovation coming from this company is ways to get the total cost of a internet/TV package to go up.  Terrible.

Thanks for posting on our Community Forums, jpav80. I appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to help with your fee concerns. The portion of the regional sports network fee on the bill for those networks should be automatically removed going forward. There will also be a one-time regional sports network credit automatically applied to accounts that were impacted by these changes. When was the statement printed? What date? Has it been more than 30 days since the email communication?

Most likely, the adjustment will not show up until the next statement is generated. We can also take a look at your rate and promotions available. I understand the importance of having affordable services nowadays, and I'd be happy to check what options we have to match your needs. Could you please send our team a Direct Message with your name and service address? Our team can take a further look.

The email about NESN and the $7 reduction was sent on 1/10 and the new bill shows as 1/17, however the current price list for my area shows that the price is $18.25 which is an increase from $15.15.  This local price list shows that it went into effect on 1/28.   Just more confusion and more frustration.

I have tried on several occasions to review my packages but I am always told that either I will pay more for dropping services or that I am currently getting the best price.   I will try to reach out again by message, but I am not optimistic that Xfinity is in the business of delivering promotions for existing customers at this point.   At no point in the future am I looking to add other Xfinity services.

While we were able to resolve the RSN fee issue through a credit, the Xfinity team was unable to find a solution or best possible promotion that resolves the issue regarding the rising costs even while under a current contract.  This wasn't a surprise but yet another disappointment. The direct messaging responses also have become longer and longer which defeats the convenience aspect.  Phone calls might be the best approach going forward.

i had a similar situation happen.  On 1/13/25 I received this email from Xfinity:

Our commitment to bringing you the best in entertainment requires working with programmers to offer a range of options while managing the rising costs of programming.
As part of our new programming agreements with NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California, both channels will move to our Ultimate TV and Digital Preferred packages on Tuesday, January 14.
As a result, effective January 14, you'll no longer have access to NBC Sports Bay Area and California as part of your current TV package. The monthly Regional Sports Network (RSN) fee for your current TV package will be reduced by $16.90. When the new fee goes into effect, you may also receive a one-time credit to cover the change in fee from your previous bill cycle.
Want to keep these channels in your lineup? Just sign into your account to view available options and offers. Keep in mind, you'll need an X1 TV box to watch.
Thanks for being with Xfinity.

I don’t watch sports anyway so was glad that I would no longer have to pay the RSN fee, or don’t care I no longer could view NBC Sports.  So I looked at my most recent bill and see that I hadn’t received my one time credit for the half month fron Jan 1 -13, and that fee was still included for my February bill.  On top of that, the RSN fee went up from $17.50 the previous months to $19.  I tried calling and it’s impossible to speak to a live person so I did a text chat.  After some time the agent finally agreed to credit my account for the one and a half months.  Time will tell if this fee will not continue to show on future bills.  Then I mentioned this to my sister who also has the same Xfinity plan as I do and she also was never credited and continued to be charged in error.  She too had to chat with Xfinity to get the charges reversed.  I’m assuming thousands of other Xfinity customers received that email and I can only guess Xfinity is continuing to bill thousands of its customers in error.  Many folks have autopay so they just don’t notice.  Xfinity you need to get your act together and get this problem fixed for all affected customers.

Good evening, @user_11bea0. Thank you for contributing to the post. It can take 1-2 billing cycles for those to appear on your bill.
