How to get 5 year price: $50?

I've been an Xfinity customer for years. I see advertisements for the 5-year/$50/1Gig plan, but when I asked Xfinity about it (I both called customer service and also when into a store and spoke a person there), or when I check my Change Plan options, I don't see this heavily advertised plan offered. How do I get it? Do I have to cancel and sign up as a new customer? I do see the plan when I check the Xfinity site as a new customer (not logged in).

I have 5 or 6 months left on a 1 year plan, since the 5 year plan wasn't available when I did my annual Call Xfinity To Get a Better Plan last December. Do I need to wait until the 1 year plan is complete before I can get the 5-year plan? I would rather not wait in case the 5 year plan offer goes away.

Any ideas how to get the 5 year plan now?

Looks like the only way is to cancel and sign up with your spouse's info. It's possible the promo will pop up for me once my term is close to ending, or ended. Only time will tell.

Good morning @user_l2c9a  Thank you for reaching out and sharing your interest in our pricing options. To be transparent, new customer pricing is not available for customers with existing accounts. This includes canceling an active account and opening a new one, as that would be a violation of our policy.

Customers generally must wait 90 days after closing an account to be considered a new customer for Xfinity Residential services (internet, TV, voice) and qualify for introductory promotions. That said, we'd be happy to review your current account and explore any available options or offers it may qualify for, if you are interested, please send us a DM with your full name and address to Xfinity Support.

To send a direct message:

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

As you are typing, a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

DM to Xfinity Support sent

I look forward to seeing if support here can do anything the store and telephone support cannot.

Also, I would have my wife sign up for service since she is not a current customer, but I really don't want to have to play those games.

Follow up. The Xfinity rep here (via forum chat) said the same thing as the call center and store. I’ll check again when my one year is closer to up, or I’ll just cancel and get service using my wife’s name. Ridiculous.

Hmmm, I was hoping to see that you got a better response since I have the same question. Seems like they may prefer that we go to a competitor instead.
