Fraudulent billing via email.

I received a suspicious email telling me my comcast/xfinity contract had expired.  It directed me to send an exorbitant sum to reinstate.  Since it is purporting to be your company, I wanted someone there to see the email I received.  But there is no obvious "Fraud Reporting" link on the website.

"... there is no obvious "Fraud Reporting" link on the website."

To report a scam email to Comcast, follow the "Report Spam and Phishing Emails" link on https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/ and scroll down to the "Report Phishing Emails" section.

Samples of recent phishing messages can be found at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts/ under "Top Phishing Scams".

Hello there, @Jay_ba1202 [Edited username to remove PII], and thank you for bringing this to our attention through our Forums! I understand you've been receiving some updates from possibly us, stating that your promotional pricing has come to an end, and I can most definitely appreciate the effort to reach out, making sure it's an official notice. Rest assured; you're with the pros, and our Digital Care Team is here to help!

I recommend reaching out to our Customer Security Assurance Team (CSA), in an effort to report the suspicious email, and make sure everything is up to par with your account. I've attached their contact information below. I'd also like to take a look into your account, to make sure you're receiving our best pricing available! Can you please send us a private message, including your full name, and your full address? Thank you in advance, and I look forward to speaking with you!

You can send us a private message, by clicking on the chat icon, in the top right hand corner of your screen. Once you click on that icon, you should be able to search "Xfinity Support", which should then give you the ability to send us a message.

@XfinityTyler

Yeah. surprisingly enough, not.  I tried going through support chat,  But the automated assistant refused to connect me to an agent. anywhere.  I know the email is fraudulent as my contract is current and I haven't made any changes.  I will attempt to connect with your team tomorrow during daytime hours.

Okay, got it! Thank you for confirming, and thank you for sending over that update. I'm deeply sorry to hear that the automated system would not connect you over. Please remember, our Digital Care Team is here for you, 24/7, through our Forums, for any additional support you might need from us, in the meantime. Thank you for your time tonight, and we look forward to hearing back from you!

I no longer work for Comcast.

If you log into webmail [connect.xfinity.com] and you see an email from Comcast/Xfinity, you should see the verified Xfinity logo in the email when you open it up.  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email

An email purporting to be from Comcast/Xfinity that doesn't have that logo is a spam/phishing email.  @BruceW gave you excellent links.

The email you received is most likely not "fraudulent" per se but rather a phishing email.

Piggy-backing off @Again and @BruceW, we do have a system to report suspected phishing or spam emails. The links BruceW provided are the correct ones for this sort of request.

When reporting spam emails, it is critical that you send us the email headers. Please do not forward the spam email. Forwarding the email will remove the original headers.

Report a spam email sent to your https://comca.st/3dg1VMR email account

Webmail Users

  1. Select the message you wish to report as spam.
  2. Click the "Spam" button in the right-hand corner of the webmail console.

Email Client Users (Windows Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)

  1. Select the message you wish to report as spam.
  2. Forward the spam message as an attachment to missed-spam@comcast.net.

Report spam email sent from within the Comcast Network

Once you have copied the full message headers from the spam message, paste the header and message into an email and send it to abuse@comcast.net.

When reporting phishing emails, it is critical that you send us the email headers. Please do not forward the phishing email. Forwarding the email will remove the original headers.

Report phishing email sent to or from a https://comca.st/3dg1VMR email account

Once you have copied the full message headers from the spam message, paste the header and the message into an email and send it to abuse@comcast.net with the subject line "Phishing email."
