Downgrading more expensive than current internet plan

I am very frustrated by the Change Plan options online that reflect higher monthly prices for a lower Internet speed plan. Calling customer care did not connect me with any representative after an hour of waiting either!

Hey @user_a4d1a0,

Thank you for visiting our Xfinity Community Support Forums. You may be on a promotional plan which is providing you with a discount on your current services. This may result in you seeing lower speed tier plans at a higher monthly cost than your current services. Are you currently experiencing any issues with the services?

Thank you for your reply. My 1200 mbps plan is too over powered for my needs, and downgrading to a 400 mbs fast plan is quoted to me now at over $100, which is irreconcilable when compared to similar plans to sign up new with other providers. XFinity makes upgrading easy, but no options to downgrade for cost savings.

It would be more cost-effective to stay on your current plan if the lower speed tier options are an increase in the monthly service charges. If you are renting a modem, you can also look at options such as purchasing your own device. You can find information on our "Using Approved Third-Party Equipment for Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice" support page. If you would like assistance changing to one of these lower speed tier plans, we would be more than happy to offer our assistance.

@XfinityDemitrius Wrong. It would be fair and not a total rip off as it is right now, to simply offer a logical and obvious lower price for a lower internet speed. I'm in the same situation. [Edited: "Inflammatory"]
