Deceptive Sales Practices

The storm ready WiFi.  Mine has never worked.  The reception in my area for one is terrible.  It should never have been added by the company.  Also, I was told I could cancel my plan any time without charges.  Next thing you know, you’ll be charged for “the balance” on your storm ready WiFi equipment.  I guess Shane on me for listening to the agent.  Lastly, I’ve tried to downgrade my speed to lower my monthly bill.  You can’t do it online even though they say you can.  You end up talking to an agent that lies to you and says you can keep your speed witha lower price only as they try to add more stuff like a camera or Kwikset locks.  I’m guessing in 2 years a class action suit is going to show up on deceptive sales practices for xfinity.  Lastly - even though xfinity and peacock are the same company and you get “free” peacock - don’t sign up for it.  I’ve had peacock from early on and always signed up for the no ads version paying annually to save a few dollars.  Now, I can’t do that and the only way to get no ads is to pay full monthly price.  Not even a way to pay the upgraded difference or even unhook from them so I can’t go back to an annual plan.  What happened to honest pricing for stuff?

user_4hp176 Thank you for the feedback and letting us know about what has taken place with your account and your experience. Our team is happy to help you make sure everything on your account is resovled properly. Just a few things I want to touch base on publicly.

With your Storm Ready WiFi if the device was returned to us you would not be charged, but if you kept the device yes are are charged for it.

Our online platform does allow modificaiton but most of the time when downgrading service we do like to speak directly with you or chat so we can make sure to find the best plan based off your needs.

Peacock and Xfinity are not the same company. Peacock is a streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, offering a variety of content, while Xfinity is a brand of Comcast that provides cable television, internet, and phone services. However, Peacock can be accessed through Xfinity devices like X1, Xumo Stream Box, and Flex, and customers can manage their Peacock subscriptions through Xfinity if they signed up via Xfinity.

For help with reviewing everything on your account please send us a DM with your full name and complete address.

Chat like I did before so I can have stuff be added to the account like a “free storm wi-fi” or something ”free camera” or “free Kwikset” only to be told no term or cancellation fee giving me the impression there won’t be charges for these “free” things?  Also - you may not technically be the same company as Comcast/Peacock but you have an affiliation due to corporate ownership and partnership.  By pedaling Peacock as a service you provide, even as a pass thru (if that’s what you call it), why aren’t you able to unhook from my Peacock account then so I can purchase the annual subscription directly from them?  You’d think you’d have the ability to upcharge from premium to add free like other companies can do.  Regardless, my next call or chat will be met with the same garbage upsell.  When all I want to do is reduce the service to pay less for what I need.  Needing to talk to me is hidden tactics to upsell or add on things that people don’t need.  I’d rather just pay the extra $25 for a few months and cancel service in June when I move.  My next place I’ll not use Xfinity.
