Collections on Credit Report

Hello,

I took on an expat job assignment overseas and had closed the account prior to departing from the US late 2023.  I thought I took care of all the balances until I was hit with a collections on my credit report a few days ago.  I made the payments in full and was never late on my previous payments.  I'd like to request to have a goodwill deletion on this collections hit.  Please advise how I can proceed.
