Cannot update payment method after account transfer

My roommate recently moved out and transferred the Xfinity account ownership for our address to me. We contacted Xfinity support, and they updated the name/email/phone number for the account. But now whenever I try to set up a payment method, I get the following message:  "We need to verify your contact information to keep your account secure. Make sure to add your phone number and email address if you haven't already."

I've already added and verified my email and phone number, so there's nothing I can do on my end to make this go away. I suspect that the Xfinity ID might not have been changed to match my email/phone number and maybe that is what's causing this issue. I would appreciate direct message support.
