A question about the 50+ Channels TV program

This is not really a question. Rather it is a comment on Xfinity's inconsistent feedback on why I am charged an extra $10 for the 50+ channels TV program I signed up for in early March 2026. I did the signup with a live associate via phone, knowing that the 50+ channels TV program would cost me $80/month plus tax. I also set up the auto payment using my credit card and the associate took all the information. When I received the first bill, I was too busy to look at the bill after our moving to the current location and the auto payment took care of that first payment. Now when I have some time and look at the second bill, I notice that the cost for the 50+ channels TV program is increased to $90/month. So I chatted with an Xfinity associate Vaishnavi a while ago.

First, Vaishnavi told me that the increase is "due to rising costs from television network owners for the content and shows provided". Then I asked why the cost of the 50+ channel TV program was listed and is still listed as $80/month on the internet. After some further Q&A between us two, Vaishnavi explained that I can get a $10 discount if I use my checking account for the auto payment. I said that would not be an issue and I can make that change. But, I asked why the associate who helped to sign me up did not tell me that. Vaishnavi did not answer that question from me.

After I completed my chat with Vaishnavi, I went to Xfinity, trying to change my auto payment method to no vail. Then I asked Xfinity AI if there is any difference between the auto payment via the checking account method and via the credit card method. The answer is NO. I am copying below Xfinity AI's answer. The whole process took me about one hour. Why does Xfinity do this to its customers???

Vaishnavi gave me a credit of $10 for my second bill at my request. I still would like to request another $10 credit for my first bill payment. Thanks.

The search results do not indicate that automatic payments by credit card incur a $10 charge per month. Instead, they explain that when you enroll in automatic payments, your current balance will be charged to your payment method on file on the bill due date. There is no mention of a specific fee associated with using a credit card for automatic payments. For more details, you may want to check your account settings or contact customer support directly.

user_ht0qut Thank you for the feedback about the process and your experience. The Automatic Payments and Paperless Billing Discount (APPD) offers a $10 discount on monthly bills for customers who have Xfinity Internet and enroll in automatic payments and paperless billing using a stored bank account. Eligibility excludes customers with services like Xfinity TV without Internet, Internet Essentials, and others. If automatic payments fail or if Xfinity Internet is canceled, the discount is removed. The discount may take up to 45 days to appear on the bill and can take up to two billing cycles to reflect after changing payment methods and we do not issue credits for the time it takes for the autopay to be set up.

Here is more information about APPD: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/automatic-payment-paperless-billing
