iphone and ipad dropping wifi every few seconds

Several people have brought up this issue but I have not seen resolution. I have a new router after being replaced last week by xfinity onsite techs. It is working fine on my laptop connection but my iphone, ipad and a friend's phone and ipad drop wifi every 5 seconds or so. This is costing me big bucks on my cell usage because that's my fallback and I've used most of my data plan. I can't get through to a real person. Please help asap.

@user_zru3yt Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Since the issue seems to be affecting multiple Apple devices but not your laptop, I'd like to gather a few more details. Do the iPhones and iPads reconnect on their own, or do you have to manually reconnect them each time? Have you noticed if this happens everywhere in the home or only in certain rooms? We'll be happy to help troubleshoot and get to the bottom of this with you. I know how frustrating it is to rely on cellular data when your Wi-Fi isn't staying connected.

Hi - thanks for the response. This happens anywhere in my (very small) townhouse. I can be connected to my wifi and it will drop, then will re-acquire. I previously recorded a 2 minute video showing my phone dropping repeatedly, about every 5 seconds. (Note: the file is too long to meet your 10M limit.) I have the wifi configured on my phone and ipad to Auto-Join.  Side note: I do NOT have this problem when using Xfinitywifi public network, which I will then sometimes use as a backup but the signal is weak at my home, so not preferable.  I also did not have this problem before the new gateway was installed last week. I've disabled my VPN BitDefender product to rule it out, plus two devices didn't even have it running on theirs but still have the problem. No clue. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to forget the network and then reconnect your device? @user_zru3yt

Yes, thanks. I've tried powering off my devices, then rejoining that wifi. Restarted the gateway to clear bad configs, restarted phone and then rejoining the wifi after gateway reset. I've tried pretty much every permutation you can think of.

user_zru3yt - Thank you for sharing those details. Are any other devices in the home experiencing the same issue, or is it limited to your Apple devices? Have you also ruled out whether your current internet speed tier or the number of connected devices in your home could be contributing to the problem? As a next step, please turn off mobile data on your Apple devices so they're forced to connect through your home WiFi network. Then test the connection and let us know what you experience.
