Internet speeds much lower than plan

I am subscribed to 1 GB plan and purchased a new modem and a new router to accommodate this plan. From my independent research, these devices should sustain close to the speed supposedly being delivered by Comcast. However, I am still receiving same speeds on devices as before the upgrade (averaging 88-230 MB).

Your help menus indicate that testing the speed into my modem can only be done via Xfinity app if I have an Xfinity modem. Is there another way to test the speed coming into my house to verify that the slow down is related to my equipment? Also, where might I access a list of approved devices to assure accommodation of the speed to my house, if it is indeed to the specs of the plan?

Hello, @user_3at3n4 thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. Working from home myself, I completely understand the importance of having your home network running as intended and want to help answer some questions for you and investigate further. Regarding owned modem, and the speed that they can support we do have this helpful link you can visit: https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned

Testing speed can be done here: https://speedtest.xfinity.com/

I also like to provide this great forum post that has the upstream and downstream signal range and how to check to ensure there isn't any signal issues:
