Using this approach: https://customer.xfinity.com/#/settings/security/hotspot Just results in the message "Something has gone wrong, please try again later."
I just got this new gateway hardware last week. I'm assuming it in fact has the hotspot. One shows up in the wifi list (xfinitiwifi), but I'm in a city where there's dozens of other Comcast users next to me, so I am not sure if it's from me or not.
It is the exact same problem as https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Your-Home-Network/I-can-t-turn-off-the-wifi-hotspot/m-p/3289519 but it's a month later. Is Comcast trying to force us to use their hotspots again? They specifically told me I would be able to turn it off. I should have to waste time calling a human to do this.
