I have noticed this more frequently lately, but I never experienced it before Xfinity replaced my modem with the new X1 box. I can be talking on the phone, and then the line goes dead. I'm sure it is related to the internet, as it will go in and out several times per hour. Never more than a minute, but I have the same issue when I use wi fi calling on my cell phone. Fixed that by disabling that option. But that isn't an option on my land line. My parents have AT&T with Vonage and they rarely if ever have this issue. And I never noticed it with the old modem before X1.
