I agree that the phones are unlocked and will work with "your carrier" if that is one of the big four.  That is indeed what Apple states.   However, working on any of those four does not necessarily mean the phone will be usable on any MVNO as Apple could prevent that as long as there is a balance outstanding.     If this is true, it would explain your problem since the phone would show as being ineligible for use on an MVNO such as Xfinity Mobile as long as there is an outstanding balance.   Apple should be able to answer the question and the details should be in whatever documents you signed when upgrading.        ... Assuming you bought the sim free model at the Apple Store in the US and that it has not been replaced under warranty then it should work on Xfinity Mobile.   Run the IMEI on Tello.com and Verizon.   If both of these systems indicate it can be activated then there is an issue with the Xfinity Mobile activation database and the matter would need to be referred to the staff that manage it to have the IMEI added.     ... This means the number is already transferred to Xfinity Mobile but for some reason is not yet associated with your account.  Until that happens it may not help much even if you had an account number and port PIN.   The only thing I can suggest is if you are near an Xfinity Mobile store is to talk to the manager and have that person follow up with the backend staff to resolve the issue for you.  The manager should either know how to handle this in terms of Xfinity Mobile's internal processes or at least be able to contact the staff on the backend who can resolve it.    There are formal requirements for number porting and Xfinity Mobile has an obligation to assist you in this matter since it apparently has control over it at present.          ... I do not have your model so I cannot replicate the situation directly.   However, I did download the OneDrive app to my phone and once I authorized mobile upload within the app itself and also in Settings- Data Usage ensured that background mobile data was not restricted, the app immediately began searching my camera roll and uploading.   So you might check to make sure both of these permissions are granted on your phone.   If they are, and the automatic upload is not happening, you might try deleting and reinstalling the app.   Odds are the issue is one or other of the required permissions or corruption in the app.     Automatic uploads are fine on unlimited plans but customers who are paying by the gig can end up with some very unpleasant surprises when the bill shows up!           ... I have managed to switch an iPhone that had always been on  CDMA to GSM by simply swapping sims.  Indeed this is exactly what Apple indicates is possible and countless iPhone users have had the same experience.   Xfinity Mobile branded iPhones are able to operate on GSM networks provided they are unlocked.  The technical capabilities of each model of iPhone sold by Xfinity Mobile are clearly described on the Apple website and are not subject to dispute.  [The situation is a little more complicated for certain GSM carrier-branded iPhones as they are not all capable of working on CDMA networks, e.g. the AT&T and TMobile iPhone 7 in native cellular mode because of the Intel modem they contain].   By the way, CDMA carriers do use sims although Verizon and Sprint use them in different ways (Sprint uses the sim just for LTE and the MEID of the device is "married" to the ICCID of the sim).   An unlocked Xfinity-branded iPhone is capable of working on a GSM carrier.  That does not necessarily mean every GSM carrier will activate such a phone as each carrier sets its own policy on what devices are permitted on its network.  What it does mean is the phone has the technical capability to work on a GSM network.   @Gravitygap wrote: This thread has tons of misinformation. One thing I forgot to ask is whether you had received a replacement device under warranty.  These devices have a different code (under Settings-General-About the Model begins with "N" rather than "M") and often there are problems getting then activated on a new carrier.   There are sites on the Internet that sell GSX reports on iPhone activation policy for a fee.  There are questions about their reliability and safety and for that reason I personally would only use Apple.   You might try again with Apple and firmly but politely request an escalation to advanced support since your carrier (AT&T) assures you the phone has been unlocked.  Generally Apple tries to help customers although Apple employees will usually try to get the customer to deal with the carrier if it seems that the problem might be carrier related.  If the customer politely explains that has already been done usually that is sufficient to get Apple engaged.  The real advantage with working with Apple is that the matter can be escalated to a level where a resolution with the carrier partner can be achieved in some cases.  A poster here recently reported success in one such case.   Sorry, but that is the best I can offer. ...
