I think you're on to something...I'm experiencing the exact same thing! I've had the service for over two years with no potential overages. Frankly I didn't even realize there was a data cap here in Memphis. I received a new modem/dual band router around 8/1 and for the first time, I received a message from Comcast saying that I'd used 90% of my cap in 19 days. I called yesterday and the reps (2 different ones) essentially ignored my implication that the new modem is somehow linked to my spike in usuage. I'm seriously considering returning it and getting a single band modem and reverting back to my previous set-up.
