I'll try to make this brief:
I've been an uninterrupted Comcast customer for over 20 years. Last year, I moved in with my GF, now wife. We actually paid to have Comcast service run to the new house. I still had active internet at my old house during this time. I had my email addresses moved over to the new account (again I've had those email addresses for YEARS). Somehow, this move in service cut off access for me to be able to pay my bill online at the old house. I finally went to a local Xfinity store and told them everything that was happening. The bill they quoted me was over $500. Then they explained that included the modem / equipment I rented from them. So I went there soon after and turned in all the equipment. The representative told me that the charge for the equipment would take a few days to adjust off my bill and I would receive a bill for my final payment on that old account. I made sure they had my current (new) address (I had already done a change of address with USPS). Bill never came. I was busy with remodeling the new house. A few weeks later I get a collections notice in the mail from Diversified Consultants for the final comcast bill.
After several days of trying to get someone on the phone at COMCAST, I finally reached someone , explained the situation and they transferred me to someone else and I explained the entire situation. I paid the final bill with COMCAST over the phone and asked multiple times to make sure the collection would be rescinded / revoked so it woul d not appear on my credit report.
Several days later the collection appeared on my credit report. Then the next day updated as a PAID Collection - which is STILL A collection on my credit report.
In the past week, I have spent my lunch hour at work calling the main comcast number and gotten nowhere. I've been given multiple phone numbers that were supposed to be for Comcast billing / collections / accounts and they have been totally different phone numbers.
I called Diversified Consultants and they of course are telling me Comcast has to remove this collection that was posted in error.
Does anyone know of a phone number / department etc I can speak to?
Thanks in advance.
